Height shortened 4-1/2"
Drilled and sleeved (from the piece removed.

Thought I'd share.

1000026345.jpg

Halved in all directions. I used the piece I removed, to make an internal sleeve.

1000026350.jpg

Drilled a few holes so I can weld the sleeve to the bar, top and bottom.

I'll post more pics after I get it done.

Make sure to leave the lights on tonight so the ROPS police can find your home. I like your way of reinforcing the ROPS.

The ROP Bar is done. Now I can leave it up!!

There are a few low spots that I'll get some auto body finish putty for. Gotta be smooth before I prime and paint.

nice ! until you decide to add a sunshade....
My mod was to make a complete new top section, OEM ROPS top is somewhere in garage.
It clears the garage door by 3/4".

I thought about doing that but didn’t want to cut in case I sell my tractor to upgrade. I angle my ROPS. Can get into the garage now.

There was never an issue with the ROP tilted back, my issue was remembering to fold it back when I was driving into my garage. Besides, having to deal with the continual...put the ROP up<>Put the ROP down....WHOOPS, I forgot again, I eliminated my frustrations.

OK, finally found the one picture I have of my ROPS mod101
I recall seeing that image. It's not very clear, but it works for visuals.

I painted all the structures on my property this Summer. When I backed into the header after, it wasn't a good feeling. It bothered me so much, I made a sign on white plastic cardboard. It looked good, but never worked. I hit the header again within days. After another half dozen occurrences, that was enough.

I'm waiting for the ROPs Police to come at me all 😳😯😦😮😲 🤣🤣🤣

Wow.....I thought I was a "renegade" when I made SS Pins for my ROPS.

You sir, take the cake.

Too bad you will be thrown in 'ROPS prison' soon.

But nice job on the fabrication, I like that "insert" idea. (y)

Nice work!
Wonder how long it'll be before they add a kill switch to the ROPS hinge 😄

Better to have a modified ROPS than just leaving it down to avoid contact like I see many do.

The ROPS on my Ford 3400 TLB was ALWAYS "down". ;)
I did not consider it to be an issue.
I don't peddle wearing a bicycle helmet either.

I dance to the beat of a different drum...lol.

The ROP Bar, I expected it to be a minimum of 3/16" thick, it was 1/8". Making the plugs was somewhat tricky. Once inserted, I used a small piece of 1/4" for a spacer at the joints, then placed narrow pieces of flat bar on the sides and face to hold flush, (with the areas at the corners open for spot welds) then clamped the snot out everything. It was a bar clamp maze...hehe. Once everything was spot welded at the corners, the clamps all went away for fitment to the lower half. All in all, it went pretty smoothly.

I considered buying another factory upper half, then decided to play doctor instead. It worked out as planned. All said and done, I'll scuff the whole upper section., prime and paint. Once done, no one will know.

JB Weld worked GREAT to skim coat. It block sands nicely. I spread the final couple low spots this morning. I'm real pleased with how it turned out.

Do you want us to send you a file, hacksaw, or a plasma cutter to break out of jail. I like what you have done and I would have done it to mine except that the ROPS isn't going to save me or my cab if the tractor goes over on its side.

I don't care about the ROPS COPS, heck the OEM seatbelt in on the Kubota shelf in my garage. Well pretty sure it is.......
I've had over 42 farm sized tractors since 1990, NONE had ROPS or seatbelts. pretty sure someone can say 'statisically' I should be dead.
