Piranha toothbar questions

I'm trying to decide between the piranha pro vs two standard bars (one flat and one toothed). I'm about to sign for an L2502 and elected not to get the Kubota cutting edge for the bucket and will just get the piranha toothbar.

The standard piranhas would be easier to swap out with two bolts, and something about the design looks more secure to the bucket. The pro would be more of a pain to turn around with the several bolts. I feel like I'll be in toothed mode most of the time.

Not sure which tooth pattern would be more effective for cutting through saplings or penetrating clay. What do you guys think?

The pro has smaller/frequent serrations and several bolts and is reversible. The standard has two bolts and larger/infrequent serrations.

I have the standard that installs with just to bolts. It was easy to install, I have not taken it back of my bucket. It does a really good job digging into our clay soil.

I have no experience with the pro version, so can't give you an educated opinion on that version.

Wow! Haven’t seen the “Pro” before. They made me a custom weld on edge for a skidsteer bucket for my M59 and love it. Clears brush faster and cleaner than a grapple. The bevel on the teeth is what really pulls brush up on by the roots. Just don’t carry as good. It does dig clay so much better than a straight blade.

Don’t know why you would ever take it off? Back dragging is done with the heel of the bucket.

BXpanded is about 4 miles from my farm. Might have to put a “Pro” on the B26 HD bucket. I would go with the Pro.

Piranha bar on mine. Have never had a reason to take it off. I don't think you'd notice a hill of beans worth of difference in the effectiveness of the the two.

I have the regular version. It's always on. Dirt, gravel, stone..... never taken it off to use the straight edge of the bucket. I don't think I would reverse it if I had the option.

I've had it on & off a couple times.
(pallet forks & brush forks fit better with it off)
Box wrench, ratchet & socket, and a few seconds are all it takes for on or off, no biggie.

I just got my 2502 and the dealer threw in the kubota cutting edge for free. I am planning to buy the piranha cutting edge as well and it will fit over the kubota cutting edge. The kubota cutting edge is one stout piece of steel and definitely adds a lot of strength to the bucket. It should be nearly indestructible with both cutting edges on there. I am going with the standard Piranha blade

I have the regular version installed three years ago and not taken off. It is good at digging and uprooting small trees. It does a good job back dragging also.

I too have the original version in 9 years - the new version looks to be better served for small saplings - then again it might be better all the way around.

Whichever you choose - it will help digging by 300%

I have the standard version. Installed it on my L3301 about 4 years ago. It definitely enhances digging in hard-packed soil. I have never taken it off, and probably never will.

I have the Kubota edge (HATE the bolts holding it on) and the Pihrana. I also hate the fastening design of that.

Bolts are material catchers.

It's a good thought. You can find an off brand bucket for twice the price of the "Pro" version. A used bucket would obviously be less than that.

Thanks all for the experiences! I was under the impression that the Kubota cutting edge would be redundant with a toothbar, and I should just get an aftermarket that served to improve bucket performance and strength/protection. Is there a benefit to have both the Kubota cutting edge AND a standard tooth Piranha? I know Piranha can accommodate a bolt on cutting edge.

Don’t think you need three cutting edges for strength. Do lose lifting capacity.

I have an implement stand I built, I just lay it on the top shelf.
(pics below are test pics, the plow blade is actually set all the way to the back now, leaving room for the PTB)

Ha, this is great, and validating! I've not seen one, touched one in person and after deciding to get one, the past couple days the thought of banging my shin into the tooth bar occasionally comes to mind and my entire body jolts.
