Apparently I'm living in the past.
I stopped at NAPA to get four wiper blades. I like the beam ones that come from the factory on cars and trucks now.
I was shocked to pay $103. Bucks for four.

Unskilled labor at the wiper factory are probably demanding 75k a year plus full bennies.

Tell them you have AAA next time for a discount, its 5% or more

My NAPA dealer gives me trade pricing on most things that I buy there. Advance Auto bills it to one of their best customers, charges the tax, and collects the money from the person that is walking out the door with the item, but their best customer gets credit for the volume of purchases so he gets the best price. Best of both worlds.

And he also has the record of purchase which means if you ever get something and need to return it for warranty you may be SOL.

I watch the parts store prices pretty hard

filter for my truck, $68 from napa. Exact same part same number/brand, from an online store, $12, and $8 shipping. Geez. Greedy on the shipping!

I understand they have money to make and I respect that. But I also know where to look for parts, and if the difference in the exact same part is negligible I'll buy it locally for sure. If there's "that" much difference, I'll buy online if I can wait for it to show up.

Yeesh I've never paid more that the $11 DISCOUNT for ONE you got for of those blades, and that's for a PAIR. use a season, toss out before winter.
Local NAPA fix their OWN prices unlike others in the area.Get an account and get 30% off but still more than others.

NAPA is just doing what they need to do, in business.
Inflation pricing (2023) is determined at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

If people keep buying stuff at ridiculous prices, the sellers keep selling.
Can anyone figure out what would happen to those ridiculous prices if smart consumers quit buying them ? What has happened to all the consumers who used to be smart with their buying power ?

I know this isn’t the same thing, but I have a Cummins motor in my truck. I buy every motor service part at the local Cummins shop. Everything is less than either Dodge or Napa. I recently bought an air filter at Cummins for $25: $35 at NAPA and $40 at Dodge. Just an example that it pays to not be loyal to one parts dealer.

Just the opposite. They have the records and will warranty any part that comes back as defective.

Inflation when he took ofc was less than 2%…went up to 9% last summer….back down now to around 4%….and still heading downward…. expected to be below 2% again by end of the year. (per Meet the Press this morning)
Unemployment is the very very low. People have money. People are buying things. Good for everyone, buyers and sellers.

BUT….don’t hold on to those Gift Cards! Wife went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond yesterday because they’re going out of business …..not bankrupt… just don’t like competing with on-line shoppers…. So Big Sale (they claimed)….. Right. 10% off….so overpriced stuff is still overpriced…and they REFUSED her PRE-PAID Gift Cards! So BB&B has stolen the money! 👺
