I already talked with some of y’all. Just bought an l4150 that has sat up for a few years. Got it to run. Gonna change all the fluids. My question is what is the best hydro/trans oil or does it matter?

The OEM fluid was Kubota UDT. Any good quality Universal Tractor Transmission Fluid will also be fine in that machine. Your local tractor supply should have a several different brands to choose from. NAPA or similar as well. Also get yourself a copy of the owners manual and read it. It will answer a lot of your questions.

Watch out for the sheriff while you are out - I think you stole that tractor and they may be looking for you :D

I downloaded the WSM manual for it. Appreciate the info in the oil. I need to print the manual so I can thumb thru it

Looks like there may be wheel spacers on the rear axle. If so they are probably worth half of what you paid for the tractor...Either way, great deal!

Got her to the house, air up rear tire and it has been hold air since 8:30 this morning. Got a pretty good hydro leak in my delivery line. Someone told me of a shop not far from where I live that can weld a new fitting on the end of the line. What is y’all’s thoughts?

The line looks a little rotted out near the fitting, but nothing that can't be fixed. Cut the damage off, a bit of custom work, you're back in business. Maybe do something different with the adapter it connects to, then find/make something to weld onto the pipe to match whatever you change it over to. Personally, I prefer to braze the lines and fittings, but that's your choice.

Not sure you'd need a new fitting, but take the line off and to the shop. Let them come up with a solution!

That looks like a flare nut and sleeve - probably JIS. There is a male adapter screwed into the port on the casting - probably BSPP x JIS.

I would take it off, clean the mating surfaces, and retighten before getting too carried away. If it's a JIS fitting a local shop may not have the parts on hand.

If you do take it to a shop make sure they know it came off an older Japanese tractor so they don't accidentally mistake JIS for JIC.

I just completed a year-and-a-half project tractor.
You will need to add the following to your arsenal: some band aides (I prefer Tegaderm), Advil, gloves (many pair of rubber and other).

I ran the tractor to see the leak and the line seems like it’s split right behind the nut. It is rusted or corroded.
Should be an easy fix. You could try brazing the damaged area but if it is that close to the sleeve it may be a lost cause. In that case I would just cut the tube off and use a short hose as a replacement.

Or have a shop bend and flare a new repair section and join the pipes with a tube union.

I had that same type of connection and same issue with rusted, trashed out pipes.
I ended up purchasing a used replacement pipe that worked just fine.
Have you priced a replacement?

Curious to hear what other solutions are out there from those with more experience.

That is a bite type tube fitting - probably male BSP. Let's start by IDing the old parts. Do you have a caliper or micrometer? If you do measure the OD of the tube and the OD of the male threads that screw into the port. Then we can start looking for replacement fittings.

Not going to find a longer version of that tube fitting but a new tube fitting and a matching port adapter may add the length you need.
