Looking for new tractor for 80th

My son is telling his mom that his daddie is getting a new tractor for his 80th birthday (April).

Gonna look at a B2301 and LX2601SU. Looks as though they're only about $1,000 apart, and the LX is 55 inches wide, which will fit across my tractor crossing at a tad over 60 inches. Only about 200 # heavier; so, it shouldn't stress the driveover/flowover/flowunder crossing.

Wondering what the lead time is on the LX. The B2301s seem to be in stock.

Nobody offered a new tractor.
They all think I have too many already.

If it's that bad, it may force me into the B2301. Most dealers seem to have them.

Check with your dealer on the lead times…I feel they have been drastically different depending on where you purchase.

LX2610SU should be easier to find most want the non SU version…

Yes. Currently own a 6 year old 2025R.

Got an email back from one dealer. Has both an LXSU and B2301 but neither with loaders. Told him gotta try with loaders as I want to see how access is as I've had 3 tractors and never ever had the loaders off.

My JD sales person showed me how easy it is to take the JD's off partly to get better access. Nope.

Got an email now from another dealer. Got 3 within 35 miles of here.

Yes, I had a 2019 B2601 for 250 hours, and have had the LX for 80 hours. Comparing them by capability, and capacities, they are somewhat similar. From the position of the operator station roominess and comfort, they are worlds apart.

The operator station of the B2601 is akin to a BX. The LX has a seat that is a lot more comfortable, the operator station affords a lot more room, and is not cramped.

Are the treadle pedals similar? I have found my B2601's to be stiff and awkward for reverse. I have gotten much more used to it, however. But finding it and its stiffness, as well as the body mechanics—you must stomp straight down—have been challenging.

Congrats. What are you operating now? (you mention a tractor crossing, sounds like you currently have a tractor?)

Comfort is main reason for looking at the LXSU. Don't need the hp.

One reviewer of the LX2601SU remarked about HST being rather abrupt on the LX vs. butter smooth on his old B2601. One reason I want to try them myself.

I agree the HST on the B2601 is butter smooth no matter how you mash the pedal. The LX transmission takes a little more attention on the foot to stay smooth.
Pedal itself, to me, is easier on the LX.

I removed the horizontal spring under the left side after reading about it on this forum. Much better.
