Been thinking about rerouting my exhaust pipe, would like it to go downward and below starter & generator, over front axle, supported by front bumper and then aimed toward bottom of front tire. Any comments/suggestions? Orange Power = Kubota

you can do whatever you like, just need a welder some pipe, and time to route it.But I don't see alot of benifit to it , both styles (through the top and under engine) have pluses and negitives.

Mine goes down and to the rear, under the footboard, with the actual exhaust by the rear tire.

The main problem with routing your exhaust to the front tire is space for a muffler.

I'm also looking to re-route the muffler and have given it some thought.
Points to consider:

-Running it close to the alternator/starter means more heat on the alternator, starter. Not a great thing.
-Not running it far enough back/front may result in exhaust coming straight up when in neutral. Don't want to eat exhaust in neutral.
-Running it under the tractor means you might scrape the ground where ever you drive. Not a big deal unless you drive in thick stuff.
-Straight up is fine along as it's far enough up. Don't want to eat exhaust whenever you are driving.

Thoughts?

I can post pics of mine when I get my memory stick from work.

The "garden style" is the exhaust under the step to the rear. The upward exhaust is quieter when operating because the sound is directed up and away. This garden pipe on mine is very heavy and thick material but it would be easy for a muffler shop with a pipe bender to copy.

My rearward exhaust never comes up in neutral due to the tip design fanning out the flow and dissipating it in the air; barely even a smell of exhaust.
I need to get my pics. :(

I got my memory stick finally yahhh!!

Ok, this first pic is the loudest exhaust ever and you can see how far this tractor has come. The sound bounces off the ground when it is pointed down and it is like having your ear to the pipe. I turned it down like this because water was coming out of the pipe and I still needed to run it for some chores.

The garden style is not really close to anything and by the routing the starter can easily be taken off. There is so much room around the exhaust that the air from the fan blows any heat away from the pipe. Of course the pipe gets hot but I have not observed any heat radiated into parts around the exhaust.

I don't even feel heat from the muffler on the step above the exhaust.
The strap around the muffler is 1/4" or better and is bolted to the bottom of the case so the exhaust is pretty rigid. It is also high enough up that driving over high things is not really a problem.

This tip I made on the end of the muffler fans out the exhaust so very well that there is no dirt, dust, grass clippings or loose debris displaced or blown up from the flow. Even placing ones hand in close proximity around this tip there is no hard pulse from the exhaust to feel.

I got this idea from late model diesel products that use thermal reduction tips on the exhaust for the current diesel exhaust emissions. Not only does it reduce the exit temps of the exhaust but I noticed how it fanned out the flow so that there was no direct stream to blow on surrounding areas.

This is quiet exhaust but the straight up pipe and muffler is more quiet than this garden style.
