I've found it performs very well with lighter tasks at the low end of the RPM range. And yes, as the load scales up, throttle is needed.
When you really think about it, ~20 HP is quite a lot considering the mass of the tractor. If you're throttled correctly, no way it will fade before traction.

The new gauges in the 80 series are sweet, just as you mention, clearly shows recommended RPM ranges for FEL & PTO. This was an area I felt the KB was way ahead of the other color tractors, and their cheap looking gauges.If I’m correct, the New 80 series BX have the sweet spot for FEL and mowed rpms show. Right on the tachometer. If true that’s good learning for a noob like me.
