Has anyone fab'd their own diesel tank whether it be gravity fed or electrical. Just traded a L2350 for a L4060HSTC. This tractor loves diesel mowing at 2k rpm. Looking for a 50 to 100 gallon tank to put out at home that doesn't cost an arm or a leg. I have searched clist but was hoping you guys had done something more interesting. Pics if you have any. Thanks

I have but I figured there would be more people with some creative ideas on here. I'm tired of lugging (3) 5 gallon jugs on and off my truck. Plus holding them up to unload them into the tractor.

Simplest, 55 gallon drum and a hand pump.

You could use a fuel Caddy too.
(33 gallon square tank with wheels and a hand pump)

More inventive, Semi fuel tank with an electric pump. ;)

Fuel companies generally don't like filling smaller tanks (less than 500 or 1000, depending on the company) so you might consider something you can bring to the pump. One that goes in the back of a truck with a hand pump or 12v pump might be what you're looking for.

Growing up my dad had 2 55 gallon drums on a stand that he got filled so often, used gravity to fill the tractor. After that at one point he had a steel tank that was 200-300 gallons sitting on concrete with a hand pump that cranked back and forth and would fill a tractor surprising fast. Now we just buy fuel 5 or 10 gallons at the time.

One thing to consider though is how long you plan on keeping the fuel. These new tractors are more sensitive to bad fuel. One dealer told me the most common issue with the new tractors is bad fuel, usually from sitting in a large tank too long.

The tank will be in a heated and cooled garage with a dehumidifier. No worries there. I just figured someone had a neat set up on here. Someone has to have a guzzler that's worse than mine. Guess I'll have to be the creative one and post pics when done.

I put this together recently to make fueling easier. It is a 12 volt pump run by a marine deep cycle battery, maintained by a battery tender charger. It works very well. When it is empty I remove the hose assembly & put the tank in my truck with my pallet forks, & remove it the same way when it is full.

How do you post your pictures in that size?
not sure whom your refering too.. if it is Knott.. his pics are hosted on Taptalk via image links. BUTTTT...

we would rather it NOT be done that way. Rather they be hosted here on our board. Odds are extremely high pics hosted someplace else will get moved or deleted and the good information in here they refer too goes bye bye making the post there in worthless. I bet taptalk will not host this image for very long.

I bought a 100 gallon transfer tank and mounted it on a home made skid. I also brought a Fill-Rite 12-volt pump that I power from the tractor. I used pallet forks to load the tank in my truck when I need fuel and take out the same way. I posted on the forum about the connector I put on the tractor and pump to power the pump, see this thread for details..

I painted my tank kubota Orange and placed it on 4x4's with casters to roll around in my shop. It helps a lot when the tank is full.
