My New MX5800 was delivered yesterday

I compared the JD 5055e last year and ended up buying the Bota M5140. Without looking it up I believe the 5800 or 5200 are much lighter tractors....like maybe 1,000 to 1,500 lbs? If HST is important the JD or M6060 (M5140 no longer being made) don't give you that option, but do have the hydro-shuttle. Guess I'm just trying to say that the 5800 or 5200 aren't a fair comparison to the JD 5055e. I'd get Orange!

How does the M5140 compare to these?
Im buying in the next few days with cash discount included.. Please help me decide between these 3 tractors. either the kubota 5800mx or 5200mx or John deere 5055e. All 3 4 wheel drive.

THe M5140 is comparable with the JD 5055e, a little less weight and hp. Seems like the price I got on the JD was $33,000. The M5140 was $30,500. The MX's look like nice tractors to me. It all gets down to what you're wanting to do and also the options like HST or other things that you want. If you are going to do ground engaging tasks or lifting a heavy duty bush hog I'd get the heavier tractor. If not I'd get the MX.

Woah I didn't even know they made a MX5800 till I seen this thread. Sweet! I have a pretty much still new MX5100HST and love it. IMO these are really hard to beat tractors for the $$.

Shopped the Deeres also when I was looking and they are REALLY proud of their stuff.... that 5055e is also made in india... so in my mind you might as well buy a Mahindra and save yourself the $$.

fattball, I didn't realize there were new M5140's still out there. My dealer told me a few months ago he had quite a few requests for the tractor, but couldn't find them anymore.

From the looks of the equipment you're wanting to get you should be fine with the MX. Unless you get a very heavy grapple and disc harrows the weight difference shouldn't be a problem. I got the 5140 partly because it is fairly heavy and knew I would be getting a heavy grapple (800 lbs) and disc harrows (1200 lb).

I love mine, but it all gets down to what YOU want. If I was unsure, I'd take my time. Hard to do, but that's a lot of money! At least for po folks like me

Congratulations fattball are you going to load your rear tires, hydraulic toplink? One of my tractors is similar to yours and it really works better for me with the added weight, I even added wheels weights, but I work in a lot of hills.

Hey fxdwg, the 3rd function kit is from Land Pride and designed specifically for the MX series tractor. Google Third Function Valve Kit #380-166A for info on it.

My dealer supplied and installed it for $685.

Can you provide some information about the 3rd function kit on the loader for a grapple?
We are also looking at the MX5800, but was told a 3rd remote for the loader wasn't an option, we would have to run a hose from the rear remote to the loader.

After researching like crazy and seriously looking at Mahindra, I decided on the MX5800. It's a powerful compact that should be more than enough tractor for our 19 acres. I ordered it with a 3rd valve for a grapple, a set of rear remotes, had the rear tires are filled and added chain hooks to the bucket as well.

Minutes after the photo, it was moving some downed trees and some gravel for a Garage-In-A-Box shelter I bought to store it in until our barn and garage are built.

Now for more implements.

She sure is a pretty thing. I just started dating her younger (smaller) sister, MX5200HST.

I'd look at the W.R. Long 3rd Function. That's what my son had put on his MX5100. It's all up out of the way, nothing hanging down underneath, works great.

I was on my porch in 1st picture. Put 6 hours on it yesterday its nice but Much slower then I had hoped. The guy said you can only mow in 1st gear of hst, 1st gear seems awful slow, I was hoping it would mow faster to cut down my mow times.

I've got an old L3010 with 5' bush hog and mow in mid range most all the time. If the grass is very heavy I may drop it into low range, but rarely. Seems like all the power you have should be no problem unless you have a very large mower. If I remember right you got a 72" finish mower? That's not that much to pull/power.
