I took these photos four or so years ago shortly before my friends sold their 50 acre house and property along the Flathead River. They're into horses and moved across the valley to live at a friend's place who has a horse therapy program. I took these images with a Samsung S7 cell phone so it is what it is.

I get a kick out of animal shots with Kubota stuff in them. :giggle:

We were enjoying an early spring up here and then it snowed in the night (the night before too) and I woke up to some visitors at the house this morning. A small group of 25 or so elk heading up the hill after a midnight snack in some farmer's field no doubt. Elk will happily munch on bales that are poking out of a pole barn or stacked up under canvas.

There was a small group of elk along the driveway late yesterday afternoon, and I was surprised to see a whitetail deer hanging out with them. I don't often see elk and deer mixing it up. One thing is certain, whitetail are far more observant than elk, or at least they're more concerned about their safety. That doe spotted me out on the deck as soon as I was out there.

Not a good picture, but kind of neat.

We’ve got a pair of Robins that have taken up residence in our yard.

IMG_7651.jpeg

One has some feathers that lack pigment. Never seen it before.

The Mrs. did some research and found the term is Leucistic Robins.

Happens in about 1 of 30,000 robins.

It's been a several months since I've taking photos and decided to load a roll into one of my film cameras. Felt nice to walk around and take photos again, I been missing it just needed a break.

I have a whole slew of Nikon film cameras down in the basement. Started with a Nikon F bought while I was in Vietnam. But once I discovered digital I felt I was "freed". No more limiting myself to the number of photos I take...is the roll 24 exposure or 36? Is the ASA of the film high enough to get a non-blurry photo?

For those reasons and because of the current cost of film and developing and printing, I would never go back to film. I have thousands upon thousands of Kodachrome slides I shot through the years. Kodachrome was the best you could buy - extremely fine grain and gorgeous colors. When I scan those slides now and compare the results to what my digital camera can do, the Kodachrome looks pretty bad.

It's 36 exposure and 400 speed. Black & white film.

Yes film isn't cheap nowadays that is for sure but it isn't terrible either. I enjoy shooting it more than digital now, just like the slowness and being more mindful. It's a hobby for me.

I have a medium format Holga that I quite like a lot. Quite fun! Especially when I get the scans back from my lab.

Barred owl bathing

Great footage! Owls are such amazing birds. You're in Georgia right? Thank goodness the video didn't end with that little guy getting chomped by an alligator or such. 🤪

I was dating a woman a few years ago who spotted an owl in the road when driving home late one night. I was on the phone with her when she saw the owl. She stopped the car, got out, picked up the little guy and managed to get him into her car. At one point he was perched on the steering wheel looking straight ahead! 😂 She drove slowly for a few hundred yards with the windows down and eventually he flew out of a window and off into the night.

Thanks, yeah I always love catching owls but usually get them just flying out of view...at night...

Footage is from our property in AL (where my tractor also is). Primary residence currently in GA, but will be AL before long.

What a cool experience! Little guy was already sporting some nice talons...
