L1801-temperature gauge install

I bought a universal temp. Gauge.
No idea where it plugs in.
Who can help a guy out?
It's a threaded bolt.

I looked through some pic's I have of the L295 3cyl I rebuilt.....and figured I would consider adapting it to the drain on the block on the right side if I was looking at doing a temp gauge. Don't know if there would be a clearance issue on other components in that area for your tractor or not.

I wouldn't eliminate the drain per se, just put the gauge coupling in a "T" fashion between the block and the valve. Then again......would this get the water flow you might want to have for the accuracy of reading....hummmm...I bet ServiceDeptVic will know!

Visited the local tractor shop.
The mechanic I chatted with said the petcock is not the best place for a temp. gauge.
Says it will always read cooler than near the top end of the engine, near the thermostat.
So....
Where is the next best spot (something off the block) for a temp gauge?

I bought a metal adapter piece that you cut a short portion from the center of the upper radiator hose and install it there. I found my adapter on Ebay.
This is on a B7100.

There are literally millions of cars and trucks that have the temp sending unit threaded into the water jacket in side of the block, This is especially true of many of the inline 4 & 6 cyl machines, Considering that is more likely closer to the combustion chamber/process that is where the most heat is generated and stored, While the radiator hose sending unit is convenient it is isolated via rubber from the actual engine block and would most likely be a lower temperature reading in my opinion.

I would consider knocking out a frost plug but I'm not sure it would be threaded.

If you use one of the radiator hose adapters don't forget to connect a ground wire. They have a small tapped hole just for the ground.

Before somebody is running in circles with the hands up in the air, I would like to mention to measure the temp-difference. The water is moving and the temperatur at the radiator should be everywhere nearly the same.
I am on a business-trip next to Macau, otherwise I would start Kuno to check it by myself.
