The only time that I have used this app is then I was adjusting the governor/speed on my new golf car. I kicked the top speed from 19 mph to 23 mph. I actually hit 26 mph but backed it down to the 23 mph, but of course that also is not the question here.

That’s probably true. In the mid-80s I worked for an outfit which had a marketing-relationship with the MSC in Houston and we visited and got some ”hands-on” experience with some of the hardware. It was common, everyday aircraft stuff, nuts-and-bolts-wise....nothing particularly exotic, and the electonics were clearly “dated”.... heavy and bulky by todays standards.
Keep in mind, the guys sitting at their consoles were still using slide-rules to speed-up their calculations.

When you factor in the user of each, the overall computing power is more than comparable.
