I have a L4400, 703 loader and 6’ bucket. Are there any good options for bucket hooks rather than welding?
thanks in advance,
john

Just another option in case you haven't see it.

No drilling or welding and you can store them in your toolbox.

Check out jufabworks.com. I have their workmaster plate which bolts onto the bucket and provides two chain hooks, a 2" receiver, and two "grab" handles and the plate serves to reinforce the top edge of the bucket.

While that looks Neeto, it's one use away from bending the snot out of the bucket.

I will toss my vote in for Ken's Bolt-on Hooks. Have had them on on my bucket for a few years now and they have worked great. Easy to install with a good drill and step bit. I think it took me longer to gather my stuff than it did to actually install the hooks.

I bought 2 bolt on bucket hooks from Amazon that came with grade 8 bolts are very heavy hooks. They were $30 but much better than welding some on.

I understood that you dont want to put too much pressure on the cylinders at their full extension. For lifting straight up, wouldnt this recommend putting the hooks on the back side of the bucket? Photos below explain my concern.

Not ideal

Better option for straight lifting

Is this something to consider or am I thinking too hard?

Center of the bucket. However, you might want to reinforce your bucket depending on what you plan to lift.

@Squirrely Baker

In the first pic (copied from our website I think), the cylinders are in tension, and no risk of bending. Lifting to the max capacity of the loader is no issue like this.

Cylinders (rods) bend when they are at full extension and they are forced to try to compress, like when backdragging with the edge of the bucket.

Maybe I misunderstood the issue but I thought pulling the cylinders out all the way under a load would damage the seals. Not a bending concern, but putting to much pressure against the seals.

Yes both pics are from your site. Im trying to determine where to put the hooks. I anticipate having to pull straight up and was concerned that curling the bucket under, as in the first pic, would stress the cylinder seals too much under heavy weight.

The long and short of it is if you use the loader as intended and within capacity, there in NO issues.

People get in trouble when that start yanking and pulling hard with the loader, it's not meant for that. It's designed to LIFT and PUSH, other activities are trying to pull the loader off of the tractor.

Don't overthink it.

What tractor/loader/bucket do you have?

Overthinking is how I ended up with a tractor ;)

LX2620 with a 535 loader and the 54" quick attach bucket.
