How to repair a cut in R4 Tire Tread ???

Hello all -

My R4 tire has a slice cut in the tread - the tire itself is fine. I tried to glue the tread flap using
Xtra-Seal Chemical Vulcanizing Cement (8 oz.)
but it did not hold - and yes the joint was thoroughly cleaned before the vulcanizing cement was applied. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks much.

curious, dld the instructions...
appears to be a 'contact' type cement so it HAS to be DRY before parts are joined.
According to the sheet can take up to 5 minutes based on temperature and humdidity levels....

maybe try again
clean/buff,apply but use toothpicks to keeps parts from each other for at LEAST 5 minutes then remove toothpick, press together hard and hold.

My suggestion, and the hard honest truth, just forget about it.
Your not going to fix it where it will actually hold!
You've now got a used tire.

Curious so please explain why ?
The screw only goes into the 'LUG' ,horizontally, has NOTHING to do with the air inside or structural integrity of the tire/rim. The extra weight 'might' affect performance ??

I agree that the tread cut appears to be minor and not something that will ultimately compromise your tire. If it bothers you, clean out the sliced area and apply an adhesive you feel will do the job. In the event that it fails down the road, shrug it off and continue to tractor on.

Looks like normal wear & tear to me. Whether it eventually chunks out or stays like it is, it’s irrelevant to performance.

I would just cut that little piece off with a sharp knife so it would not continue to tear off more tread. Cutting it off would prevent the torn piece from continuing to tear off more rubber in an unpredictable manner.

I agree with cut it off (it looks small), so you can control how the tear continues.

If you don't want to do that, clean it really well with isopropyl alcohol or sand/shave it slightly . Then, use the vulcanizing cement, but leave it under pressure for a day or so in a warm location.

I would just trim off the flap to avoid additional tearing as others have suggested. Save the flap as a reminder that you have used your tractor for actual work.

Clean it with diesel, then use wood glue. It won't hold but a lot of people will love the pictures!

My experience with chinese supplied superglue in combination with rubber is very good. If that still works after your rubber cement attempt I do not know.
