Ah, just pieced together your handle... 🔫🔫
Ha! Ha! 😂

To be honest, I kind of regret the mcmxi handle but it started back in 2011 when I bought my first 1911. I was a little 1911 obsessed for a decade or so since I was shooting a 1911 in USPSA single stack and at one point had three Ed Browns, two Dan Wessons and two Kimbers. I'm now down to one Dan Wesson (Valor) and one Kimber (Tactical Entry II). I have an FFL 07/02 SOT and my business name is MCMXI LLC so there's no getting away from that.

I wonder how easy it would be to change my handle on this forum? I know that @MOOTS made the change so it might be as simple as contacting a moderator. Hmmm .... I'll have to think of a better handle that's tractor related. 🤔

I had mine changed years ago. I think one of the mods had to ask the owner to do it. I was becoming a lifetime contributor so that may have helped.

I just sent a message to @North Idaho Wolfman asking if I could capitalize the M and MX in mcmxi since I have M and MX tractors. 😂 Perhaps my user name will be McMXi in the near future.

Well, it's done and my user name has been updated. Mc or Mac means "son of" from the Gaelic, so if MXi mean bitch in some language I'm all set for the triple play ... on words.

Kualoa point?
Yep! Looking across Kaneohe Bay towards Chinaman's Hat. I lived in Hawaii for 23 years and had a townhouse a few hundred yards from where I took that photo.

The smoke plume was on the Big Island of Hawaii in 2008 when lava was flowing into the ocean.

The bottom photo is Hilo Bay on the Big Island.

Some photos from last week testing the new 7mm Backcountry cartridge from Federal. This cartridge, and others that will be introduced by Federal, are intended to improve performance from shorter barreled rifles given the interest in suppressed use. Adding an 8" or longer suppressor to a 24" or 26" barrel makes for a big stick that isn't ideal for many hunters.

This is an 80ksi cartridge hence the steel case. It's akin to a .280 AI with a blown out shoulder and straighter taper compared to the .30-06 Sprg. case, but the shoulder isn't blown out quite as much as the .280 AI.

The barrel shown below started out at 24" but it was cut back in 1" increments to see how the velocity changed. Shooting a 175gr bullet from the 16" barrel produced velocities around 2,900 fps!!
Oh heck yea brother. That's a sweet looking set up.

We generally stay quiet around the ole homestead during hunting season out of respect for others, but our deer season actually ended for us sunday.

So sunday afternoon, the boy and I got a few out and started sliming down my tanerite stash. I got him to shoot my 308 a couple months ago....he didn't like so much but handled it like a dang pro. So sunday I figured we'd get the 7mm out.

I haven't shot that ole girl since beginning of last season, and boy did it reset me. Youngin wanted nothing to do with it, wife came out immediately and made us get off the porch lol.

My bossman started dabbling in the suppressors last year. Can't believe what it did for his 308.

We shot the 7mm Backcountry shown above without a brake, with a brake and with a suppressor. The difference the brake made was HUGE. The suppressor was much closer to the brake in terms of felt recoil, but that's to be expected. I don't think I've ever done a no brake, brake and suppressor comparison in one session.

I have lots of suppressors and would take one over a brake every day of the week and twice on Sunday. So much nicer in terms of recoil and noise.

Wow - - It's amazing folks can identify locations so easily.

I haven't travelled far or often.

As a former dairy farmer, we run our roots deep and don't tend to stray far.

Take the boy from the farm, but you can't take the farm from the boy.

I'm an awful traveler still.
