I am not sure you are aware but that is an all too common form of domestic spousal abuse you are suffering from😉…it is done to hobble us (sort of like Kathy Bates did in Misery…but much much worse since it involves our tools and whatnot) and make us dependent on them. Only solutions I have found is 1. to add an extra machine(s) and tools in case one is ever hidden from us, and 2. don’t make the shop too open and inviting to the point a ne’er-do-well would consider coming in to see if anything they could use or relocate. (Why do my Milwaukee tools wind up in the sewing room…did the dog or cat put them there? )😆
I used to depend on my wife to tell me where things were when I couldn't find them. On Friday morning she thought that she had put her car into park, and started to get out. The open door knocked her down and she was dragged under the car. I ran out to stop the car, but I was too late. The damage was done. She is now in intensive car at a level 1 trauma center. She can't tell me where anything it now because she can't remember much. We have had our ups and downs, but now I realize it wasn't so bad after all.

I can’t imagine….. just the thought of losing my wife is unbearable.

N.Y,
Hope your wife recovers fully. My wife has been in the hospital over a week now and boy is it a big change. I will warn you not to put hotdogs in the microwave without poking holes. Boy do I have a mess to clean up before she is released and I hope she likes how I rearranged all the stuff she had stored in the wrong places.

So sorry to hear that Dusty. I’m keeping the both of you in my prayers and thoughts, hoping for a speedy and full recovery.

I’m convinced the country suffers from Cronic Disorganization Syndrome!

My late uncle was the most organized person I knew. He had a place for everything and knew where it was! I would walk over to his house, lived next door, ask for a specific bolt, he would go to the jar with that size and get it for me.

Dusty, a tragic event puts things that we thought were important previously in a different category and helps us change our priorities. I pray your wife has a complete healing.

She is scheduled to have surgery in the morning and was told that it was a minimum of a 4-hour procedure. She asked them to keep her sleeping for the rest of the day and for Tuesday also, but I don't believe that they will grant her that wish. I am fairly certain that they will put her into recovery when the surgery is over, and once she is awake, they will give her strong pain medication. I was also told that it would be 3 months before she could put any weight on her legs. I am not sure how we get through this with winter coming on. I worry that something could happen to me and there is no one to give me help should I need it. I am going to look into ordering a Knox Box tomorrow so the Fire Department can access the house should I need to call for help, but not get to the door to let them in.

Dusty, you might consider getting a Lifeline system particularly for your wife to have at home while she is recovering. If you do, most of the Lifeline type companies provide a lock box as part of the package.

@DustyRusty - my mother got home from rehab this morning for the second time in 120 days. Parkinson’s is not a good thing.

After she got settled I was thinking about you guys and praying all is well.

Well, her surgery went well, and I went to see her after she got out of recovery. I have no idea what they did to her brain while she was under anesthesia, but she returned to her same old bitch self again after things had been fine for the past month. Maybe tomorrow will be better, but I doubt it.

Good to hear that the surgery went well. Sorry to hear about the other part. Hopefully things will improve as the effects of the anesthesia wears off.

I have an opposite problem. Purchased a 10 pack of small G4 light bulbs last January and used one. Needed another this week and, for the life of me I can not find the other 9 bulbs. I know they are here, but have no clue where I put them when I need them.
That's usually my problem too. I find the best way to locate the spares is to give up and buy more spares -- I'll find the originals as soon as I look for a good place to stash the new batch.

Well, this morning made it 7 days with her in the Trauma ICU, and after a few more "procedures" she is healing. Doctor estimates that it will take about 3 months before she will be able to stand with assistance. Sometime tomorrow she will be moved by ambulance to a medical facility that will monitor her physical injuries and do physical therapy. Her mood is a lot better, and she now realizes the seriousness of her injuries.
