I can replace this belt (1G772-97010) blindfolded. That’s how many times I’ve replaced these belts on two machines over the years. These skids are practically new as far as hours. Avg 250-300. I keep the pulleys rust free, tension perfect, The belt runs smooth from the water pump down to the crank pulley, then after the crank, you can visually see quite a shake and wobble up to the alternator. After the alternator, back to the water pump, the belt settles back down from the wobble. Seems to me , between the crank pulley and the alternator, there needs to be an idler to keep the wobble down. I can’t seem to find any bulletins on this. I’ve spoken to the dealership but don’t seem to get any good answers. I’ve changed pulleys, alternators and exhausted everything I could think of. Any thoughtful suggestions? I’m out of them. My next option would be to fabricate my own spring loaded idler pulley smack center of the wobble. I'm always on top of these machines as far as maintenance. Other than the belt problems, they treat us well. Any thoughts would be appreciated. On my way to change it again. Thx ahead.

So the 'normal' 3 pulley configuration....

They are NOT perfectly lined up. One or more is 'out of alignment'. Best tool to see this would be a LASER pointer mounted in the perfect spot to show what's not lined up.

This is another 'have to be there, to see WHY' problem but something is out of whack !
With belt off, spin the pulleys, see if laser picks up any 'wobble'. If possible, run engine to check crankshaft pulley..only need 20-30 seconds, so should be OK to run that long ?

I'll give the laser pointer a shot. I'll see if I can attach a small part of a video of this wobble in slo-mo. Nope, it won't let me post a video. Oh well.

Are these OEM belts or aftermarket? I agree with the comment that the belts are not following the pulleys correctly.

Yes, OEM belts. I stock them. Two out of the four machines do the same thing. Just replaced an alternator today, the alignment looks good on both. I bought some super duty non cogged belts. The next time I change one I’ll give them a shot.

What spec are you tensioning the belt to?

A suggestion - can you get a pic showing how the belts are breaking?

Perhaps another pic or two of an in-place belt - either side of the alternator?
