I've seen it done a lot.
Not so much in canada but regularly see it when I used to work in india. There a lot of the field work was done by hand and tractors pretty much stayed on hard top roads pulling trailers so traction and big lugs in the dirt wasn't an issue.

Why do you want to do that?
Cost. where I live, northern WI, Walmart ( lowest cost I can find) has a direct replacement turf tire for $350 each, only 4 ply. A LT mud tire, 6 ply, is $170 each. If I chose to go with R4’s or R14t’s, no 15” wheel sizes in those, so I need to buy new wheels at $350 each. with mounting, turf would be near $800.00. Switching to R14t, would near $1300( with new wheels to do it). I can have 6 ply mud LT (15”) mounted on the wheels I have about $400.
