He smiled and said boy those dogs are like me, short ,fat and slow Now , Im old and I can understand his logic

I agree with that logic :D Our 14 year old jack russell will curl up on the back of my chair and sleep while I watch tv. Our 5yo mini dachshund will come up to you with one of his toys. Give you the sad eyes till you get up to play with him. As soon as you get his toy from him, he steals your seat  Unless mama has the heating pad. Then he tries to bully her into letting him have it to lay on, or out right tries to push her off it :D:rolleyes:

Our bassets hunt two times a day.

Every morning they hunt down their food bowls in the bedroom and every evening they hunt down their food bowls in the bedroom.

They are masters!;)

My wife's birthday, and I'm a good cook.

Not much of a baker, but I'm good at cheesecakes.

The boxer loves cream cheese, and he REALLY likes to help!!:D

Pumpkin cheesecake in the Hobart mixer.

He sat straight-up still for 10 minutes like that!

HA!! So true.

Not too many salesman stop here. He looks mean, but really is a goofball!:):)

Great with all of us, but we shouldn't be near each other.

He's usually protecting mom from dad, and at 90 pounds, he can get in the way.:p

Thank goodness bedrooms are upstairs, and he's not allowed up there!:p:p

Lab was fed, watered and let outside.
Wouldnt stop pacing and being kind of a pest.
Finally my son asked fury what she wanted
Went to her treat bin and retreated to bed.
Sat and waited for a cookie. Napping now. Go figure. An hour
Of making us crazy.

The dachshund gets like that. He knocks on the back door when he's ready to come inside. He's started a new thing lately. Knock and disappear  He gets ignored while we eat dinner. After about five minutes of being ignored, the thump on the door turns to nails on glass. Sounds similar to nails on a chalkboard  Can't kiss my wife if he's in her lap. He will put himself between me and her. if I try to go from the opposite side, he will do what he can to keep me from getting to her  Then again, if I'm sick, he plays nurse maid and stays close to me. And will growl at my wife or the kids if he feels I'm being disturbed :p

One of my labs sometimes does that. She's elderly, and has acquired the mantle of Grande Dame (and her quirks are very few), but sometimes she seems to become either insecure or very needy. Sometimes an intense bout of petting and baby-talk will suffice; other times, not even a handful of treats will work.

<shrug> I'm a guy --what do I know? :D

Wife and I have had some serious discussions about that :p she was saying "no, we train the dog!!!". At the same time, the dog goes over and starts pointing at the treat door, doing his little dance. While telling me that I'm wrong, she walks to the treat door (pantry) and gives him a treat. :p:p The conversation got pretty colorful when I pointed out what she just did :p:D

Imagine living with a house full of wolves!

Every time I look in the eyes of a wolf, malamute, or husky, I feel like I am the dumber of the two of us. Just the way it is. :)

Today is a really sad day. The lab I recently mentioned has passed away. Her kidneys started failing while we were on vacation and she didn't last 8 days. The last 5 days she didn't eat anything and finally got to the point she couldn't walk. The last night she was here, I laid beside her on the floor knowing this was our last time together. I wouldn't let anyone go with me to the vet because I didn't want them to see a grown man cry. My wife can't make it an hour without crying and sobbing. I asked her if she wanted to ride with me to go see my Dad and she said, " Can Lucy go"? She realized what she had said and started crying again.I know we gave Lucy 12 of the best years of her life but she gave us more. Gotta stop talking, starting to cry again.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been through it 4 times now, and it never gets any easier. I can relate to the tears thing, having trouble typing this because of the memories it brings back. This last time we had the vet come here, but it was no easier, just safer than driving home while we're a complete basket case. Remember, all dogs go to heaven in return for all the joy they bring us here.

Sorry for your loss. Wife and I turn into blubbering idiots when we have to put one of ours down. They become your kids and part of the family.

So sorry for your loss. This is our second lab. We list our first one to an incompetent vet.
A while back Fury was getting kind of slow, trouble getting up off floor and wouldnt jump up on to the forbidden bed. I find out pup was getting grapes every morning while wife was making lunches. I thought we were losing her.
After finding out grapes are lethal to dogs, we stopped giving then to her-of course. Switched to oranges, within a month the good ol dog was back to her normal self.

I know how hard it can be to lose a pet.
As mentioned, doesent matter big or small, they are all family members.
