These are always the saddest posts, I'm sorry dirtydeed. Nothing I can offer other than: the memories Dakota gave you will always stay, and time helps. 12 years is a great life for most dogs. But the loss of a friend still hurts.
I have a similar experience with our pooch. If momma passes headed for the house, I get dragged homeSaw momma drive by while we were out for a walk. He knew she was leaving. When she passes going home, it's an all out sprint to get there. It's like he was waiting for her to come back. View attachment 117715
I am sorry for your loss. You have my sympathy. I certainly don’t have the words or know the correct thing to say. There is never a good time…for me it’s maybe a little harder around holidays…I’ve been through quite a few over the years and unfortunately I even lost one a day or two before Christmas two years in a row…that just sucks. Do your best. I am sure your buddy was glad to have to you.'been dreading the day I'd have to post this...I had to say goodbye the my bestest buddy today...
Dakota, thanks for the 12 years of joy you brought me. You'll always be in my heart.
Rest in peace my love

We have an EXACT look-a-like........ now 4 year old named Sadie.Rough week for me. I'm really missing my very best fiends. Here's a few shots from another buddy of mine...Remington "Remy" (2000-2012). He was a cutie as well.

RIP my friend.
I know EXACTLY how you feel. They are truly a gift.We have an EXACT look-a-like........ now 4 year old named Sadie.
She too thinks at 80 lbs. that SHE is a lap dog.
I am 83 now, and in seemingly good health, but I do hope that I leave this planet before her.
I honestly do not know if would want to continue on without my Sadie!
I hope that you both have a happy long life together. It is just as hard on dogs when their owners pass away before them. They feel the same loss as we do.We have an EXACT look-a-like........ now 4 year old named Sadie.
