Guess I’m the opposite I prefer dual wheels. I have a 6’ Kodiak with dual wheels and it does better than a single wheel in uneven terrain. Simple as ruts or low spots that the dual wheel prevents the whole cutter from dropping down into the ground.

Woodland mills sells a PTO shaft like you are describing. Splines on both ends with one having a shear bolt. I had to buy one for my wallenstein chipper. Post some pictures of your setup. Did the mower you bought not come with PTO shafts?

Also for the lights on the tractor I have them set up with a DPDT switch. So I can have them as the “low beam” is the front lights and “high beam” is front and rear lights. Just to save space for other switches.
