My fault but I filled up the Hydraulic fluid much too high in my zero turn when changing it and ran it last night. I came back to the shop this morning and there's fluid on the floor and inside of the tires . My question - did I damage something major/minor or was there a pressure release that allowed the excess fluid/pressure escape?

You may have just pushed it out of the vent or dipstick. Drain it to the proper level, clean it up, run it, and watch it closely for further leaks.

they ain't got no dipstick.

there is an oil tank on each side of the unit, cap on top of the fender.

At one point there was a bulletin that addressed this. The tanks that were originally installed were a little too small and kubota requested that they be replaced with slightly larger ones. You might want to call dealer and ask them about it. Have your model and serial number handy. The small tanks would often spew a little oil out with elevated temps and/or any slight overfill.
