Is there any possibility that the hour meter installed is a 6 volt model that would explain it counting double time since it is running on double voltage?

6 volt clock, interesting theory,I would have thought it would have gotten fried with double voltage though!but will look into it.

6v/12 volt. I remember as a kid,, Dad would put a 6 v starter on the old ford truck that was supposed to be 12 v and it would spin like crazy. Didn't last real long, but it would always start.

I used to have a '63 beetle. Did a 12v convertion on it and the generator and bulbs had to go. But the starter got to stay. Ya, it spun like it wanted to be there
