I order OEM Kubota gaskets in bulk from Messicks and with shipping, it’s cheaper than both my local dealers.

I just got turned away from Messicks as well for outrageous shipping quotes. I ended up buying local and saving money over the gouging on the shipping.

Look at the shipping costs for a single 5gallon bucket of SUDT2 vs two 2.5gallon bottles. Weight is actually more on the bucket due to more and denser plastics, I assume, but the shipping was more for the 2.5 gallon bottles despite the reduced weight. They did offer both UPS and FedEx shipping quotes but the Fedex quote was always cheaper by a few bucks.

The kicker was that I also needed 4 rubber seals that could altogether fit into the palm of my hand with fingers mostly closed and could not have weighed more than a trivial few ounces. But when I added these seals to my order, the shipping costs went up another $20 almost. C'mon man... they could taped these plastic bagged seals to the SUDT2 bucket/bottle and it would not have substantively changed the size and weight of the shipped package.

Intrigued, I called the parts dept and spoke to a guy who said that they are seeing these issues with their web shipping estimator and are working to remedy. He did note that often the actual shipping costs charged come in lower than the online estimate. But in the meantime, he said there was little he could do.

I love the Messicks vids and Neil has taught me alot about my tractor so I want to support them since I have no immediately local dealer anymore. I ended up driving a bit over an hour roundtrip and got the SUDT2 and the seals for less.

Just curious…for the folks not local to Messicks(and not like their price), why not buying wear/maintenance item(s) from a dealer that you drive past? Ie, Poor customer service, stupid pricing, or low inventory or what?

I guess I don’t understand why want to pay shipping and be upset a dealer charges for the shipping.🤔

Tell me I am reading the thread wrong…or deep down everyone liked EA free shipping…yes I may be going to hell for that one plus a few others😉)

(I’d recommend ask you local dealer when their end of season sale usually is and plan to stop in to buy next year parts/fluids/etc).

My local dealer doesn't charge me shipping/freight if I order something so long as I am patient for it to be added to a truck…usually not more than 3-5 days, and it doesn’t matter what it is, implement or part…if I want something immediate then I have to pay the shipping or freight…but if can wait, no charge.

I drive by a Kubota dealership twice a day.

I buy most of my "normal" consumables; fluids, filters, shear pins, etc. from the dealership.

I've found their prices nearly identical to online sources, and I don't have to pay shipping.

Many folks don't have the convenience I have.

I have been a customer of both Messicks and Coleman. Don't recall what I bought from them, but it wasn't something local guys had in stock.

I research first, then go to the local Kubota dealer, and if the total is anywhere close i buy local--usually the dealer is more affordable.

There have been a few things too spendy to buy there, but if I order something online and for some strange reason have to return it then there's return shipping cost...

Neil makes great videos, I've bought stuff from Messick's and have no complaints...well, I did have to wait on a stocked part that wasn't...otherwise all good.

That's great for you who has a dealer "that you drive past." My local dealer dropped Kubota so I had to drive 1+ hour round-trip to get to the next closest dealer.

I have no problem with anyone charging reasonable shipping but I think this thread was started about unreasonable shipping. In my case, the issue came with the $20 increase in cost to add 4 small rubber seals to a box that already had 5gal of SUDT2 in it.

I guess I still don’t understand…if shipping too much, drive and pick it up… are dealers all over…if I put in your credentials quite a few come up…if we don’t buy from the local dealers, they won’t be around to service us.

Hardy is where the tractor lives and there is a dealer close by when there. But we have not yet moved full-time out to the Hardy property.

Please for everyone telling me to drive to a dealer, stop… I appreciate it, that’s common sense and I’d love to but some of us don’t live near a dealer, mine is 3 hours away... thanks.

I guess I'm lucky as well. The dealer I go to is Ginop sales in Williamsburg, Michigan. I drive right by it on our way to Traverse City. They are great folks to deal with as well. Bought all three of my Kubota's from that store. I do know there are a lot of things like motor oil and filters you can get cheaper somewhere else, but I'm a stickler on OEM replacement items.
I bought my 2501 from their Hillman location, and thats who I get my stuff from.

They are about a 40 minute drive one way, but I like them. Good people, that have always treated me right.

Remember the commercial "You never get a second chance to make a first impression"? Shipping is a significant determiner today. It would be in Messicks best interest to get a handle on this- I utilize their extensive parts diagrams, but I order very little from them. Between my local dealer and other online options, there are more economical choices.
I also had a very disappointing string of interactions with them when I was looking at a used Steiner that they had for sale. I'm not very impressed.

Living in a very rural area (county doesn't have a single stop light) you need to drive at least an hour round trip or go mail order for most "non-essentials". Fortunate to have two tractor dealerships within that range. And a Tractor Supply and L&M Fleet in the only city that is across the Bay about 25 miles by road. Support the local businesses as much as possible to help keep them around.

But, certain odd ball and speciality items need to be ordered online. Shipping so far for most seem reasonable. Couple recent exceptions. There are 4 ships stores within 9 miles of my house, but needed to order a new step plate for a small sailboat. $20 part. $26 shipping fee for a sub 8oz total package. High tech adhesive for low energy plastic. $35 for the adhesive. $19 shipping fee for a sub 7oz package. Order 20# shipments of green coffee beans from retailer in CA. ~$8.99 UPS special rate that gets the order here within 3-5 days. Two extremes are options. Lower shipping rates are possible if the retailers want to look for or they can just gouge you to fatten the profit margins. Luckily for us. Most merchants just want to cover shipping costs.

You don’t have to drive to Mesa, AZ to a Bingham equipment dealer. See the attached map that shows AZ locations.

I’ve found that calling them and asking them to find a better shipping option is worthwhile. I did this on my last order and they were very helpful. Set up priority mail at about 1/3 cost of their shipping calculator, which is completely hosed.

Yes thank you, I know how to use a map and the closest dealer is 2 hours 41 minutes away as I stated... it's a tractor, I live on a farm in northern Arizona, it's not a yard tractor and I live in Phoenix like your map seems to imply I do and can almost walk to a dealer.

If you want a pricing middle ground, you can order online from your closest dealer (Bingham).

I see locations in Flagstaff, Prescott, and many other locations than the Phoenix area. Last I checked, Flagstaff is the hub of northern Arizona.

I just know I ordered from them, and though the prices were lower, after shipping, and I still had to pay state sales tax, they were 10 bucks more than the stealer 5 miles up the road,,, And I live in the same state!
