My wife and I do a lot of yard/ garden work and we have four carts that it seems I put them away in the fall and all is good. Spring arrives and half the tires are flat and now won't hold air. They are the standard 4.80/4.00-8 tires. So every year I buy replacement tubes and it's a pain in the neck changing them. I'm gonna try something different this year and take them off the carts and lay them flat in the shed with no weight on them. I know they may lose air over the winter but at least they won't have the weight of the cart squishing the tire. Anyone else have to fight with these things? I know, I could go the long dollar and get flat free wheels but that's a lot of coin to dish out.

If you don't want to spend on solid rubber tires....

I have used this for years on all my small tires.

I haven't used it in a while but I use to buy the generic fix a flat stuff to inflate lawn tractor tires. I had one that had the stuff oozing out between all the tread nubs but it held pressure through the season.

I picked up a used Gorilla Cart some years back that have what looks like the normal 10" knobby tires. I was surprised at how long they lasted and held air but it was mostly stored with no weight in it. One of those developed a leak the other day and I have it loaded with bricks. When I tried to pull the tire to put a tube in the rim bent beyond use prying the tire off. I had a generic flat free tire and wheel and discovered the hub was about an inch and a half wider than the one on the cart. I used a cutoff wheel and cut the hub down so it fit then installed new sealed flange bearings in it.

I do know the Green Slime don't work for me. I have also thought about drilling holes in the tires and filling with foam like I have read other people have done and said it worked great. If not I'm . going flat free. Thanks for ya'll's input.

N.Y,
I blew out one on my wheelbarrow today. It was about 10 years old. Amazon will be delivering a new tube tomorrow.

I've not had this problem with tubes but most times when SMALL tubeless tires leak down I find bead leaking. Break both beads, coat beads with fix-a-flat, reinflate and trouble free for a few years until tire rots.

If you are having to put new tubes in every year, you must be getting the tubes in wrong. Tubes should last a long time.

Mmmm, I can't see how. There is only one way to install an inner tube that I know of. Once I get the tube put back into the tire and have the valve stem out the hole in the rim, I partially inflate to straighten out the tire. I can lift that side of the tire to make sure all is well then put the tire back on that side.

HF has 8" flat free tires for $7.50 each, with bearings. I put them on my carts and wheelbarrow. No more bitching and complaining. And I don't have to mess with pouring goop into the tires. No brainer.

Idk what the problem is but you do have an unusual one. IMO it doesn't matter whether tires are on carts or dismounted and stacked over Winter as long as you store them indoors. Afterall how much weight does an empty cart put on a tire?

I use HF solid rubber wheels/tires too. But I think the OP needs 12" tires. The OPs wheel or rim w/o tire is 8".

I think he needs these: But these are not solid rubber. So no help.

I see...said the blind man.
Yup, $30 per tire with tax adds up much quicker.

The problem with the tubes losing air is that they are being made thinner and thinner. 40 years ago I pumped my bicycle maybe once a year. Nowadays it was more than once every 4 weeks. After talking to somebody in the tyre / tube industry the solution was to buy tubes as heavy as possible.

N.Y,
Mine blew a big hole. Guess I shouldn't load it with the tractor loader at 3 feet up 😬.
