Does anyone have any advice on how to remove the gas struts on the doors of an RTV 1100c? Mine are shot and need replacing. I see that I can undo the nut that holds the ball in place, but not sure how to get that ball out of the hole on the strut. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

There is a small wire clip around the shaft next to the ball socket. Unsnap the wire from the shaft and pull the wire out of the ball socket. The strut will now pop off the ball. Reverse to reinstall.

I hate to disagree with the guy that works on them all the time... but this one looks like it's an internal spring clip type?
If it is they are a real pain in the butt when they get junk in them.
Spray some lube in the joint and POP the strut off, just like pulling your shoulder out of socket! 😋
If it don't come off easy buy new ball joints.

Yeah, I see this unit uses the internal snap-ring version. Kubota uses 4 different styles, without looking at it, sometimes I get them mixed up, remembering which is used where.
They also substitute some of the other styles for this style.

Thanks for the replies.

The pic that Wolfman posted is what mine looks like, which is why I was scratching my head. I will try some oil and elbow grease and see where the day takes me. If my luck holds, the day will take me to my Kubota dealer to get couple new ball joints.

Well as an update, I was unable to free the ball joints from the struts, so I did in fact order new ball joints. Hopefully, its easier to get them on than it is to get them off.
