Real (stupid) oil question

That is absolutely OK for a "Kabota tractor".
Those "Kabota" tractors are known to be junk ,......right out of the factory!

I have a friend that is a Navy vet. He told me about an engine on one of the boats that would need a couple of quarts of oil added every day. One night he was on duty to baby sit the engine, so he started to look for where the oil was going, and found a loose fitting. Since he wasn't supposed to do any mechanical work he never mentioned that he had tightened the fitting and stopped the oil leak. Eventually the engine couldn't hold any more oil since every morning the person that was in charge would add an additional 2 quarts of oil.

Must be a retired Nave vet They would only add oil, never a total change! Probably a good practice with a Detroit engine.

I have spent a lot of time with the navy here and overseas but I wasn’t navy. I do owe a life debt to a very special member of the United States Navy.

The truck tells you that an oil change is needed based on the mileage that is programmed, not based on actual oil conditions.

Not on oil conditions, but the Intelligent OLM will go off of engine load on the Diesel. If towing heavy it will reduce the miles before change, and if it is lightly used like in 55MPH highway use, it will extend the intervals. The oil condition is up to the owner to get sampled to verify if the oil actually is good for those miles, which is what I have been doing. When I take a trip with the 5th wheel the iOLM will go down to 5-6K miles, but if I just drive it to work every day, it will go to 11K or more before saying oil change required. So far the oil analysis has shown the iOLM to be spot on. On my gas 3.5 Ecoboost, just the opposite, need to change it more frequently. The EB is good for roughly 6K between changes, OM called for 7500.
