Gonna add a grapple and would like to know what quick disconnect size should I order. 1/4", 3/8", 1/2"? Any particular brand / style? The tractor is 17 hp so I'd imagine the 1/4" is plenty?

I want to be able to mount one set at a fixed position on the loader and could use some advice as to which I should use as all I know about those couplers is to connect & disconnect them with no pressure on them.

I knew I was going to use 1/4" hoses for my rear remotes and grapple since my loader is all 1/4" hoses and operates fine I figured flow and speed would be adequate.
I ordered 4 of these for $16 a set: https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=9-6314&catname=hydraulic
But at the time didn't notice they were S40 type and haven't found others that interchange with them, but they have worked well and my top link and tilt cylinder still have them on the hoses .
While ordering some other fittings I found these ISO-A for $6 a set and I have 4 of these running up to my bucket grapple at 2 places on 15ft of 1/4" hose. They also work fine seal well and easy to connect, I've since found a local supply that carry the same type to interchange if I needed to.

I only have about 10 hours total use on mine so far but they seem to work well and for the price I would use the $6 sets again or for other projects in the future since all the others I've found online and locally are 3 times as much.
