When I bought a cub cadet snow blower, had to choose between the track version or the wheel version. I thought of this picture if I bought the track version. Did buy the wheel version. Sold it 3 years later and bought my 1880. No regrets.
Let her move it.Snow and melting are natural occurrences. Nature put it there, and let nature take it away. I am living a hermit life, and I will not move snow this year unless my wife comes home.
I just found the RSV thread that explains the situration...yup, I'd move the snow for her too.Her discharge date is January 3, 2025.
I've been using Trex decking as my winter blade edge, would these simply replace those or do you then need an edge to go with it? I feel like it'd still leave 1/4" of snow below the bucket, if these alone were used? They look very similar to the skid pads that are on the rear snowblower, but that has an edge that nearly touches the edge.^^^
When the pieces of wood bolted/lag screwed onto the bottom of your bucket split in half or rot away,
get yourself a pair of Edge Tamers!
My blacktop driveway and lawn really appreciate the set of Edge Tamers on my BX machine!
Zero blacktop damage and almost no turf damage unless the operator does something stupid.

Edge Tamer - Move Snow With Your Tractor Loader Bucket
Control your tractor bucket’s edge with the Edge Tamer bucket protector. Protect your grass, turf, driveway, and other surfaces when plowing snow, clearing leaves and debris, and more.r2manufacturing.com
Thanks for the follow up, glad to hear it works well for you. Given that it leaves snow behind, I'll stick with my rear snowblower and Trex decking on the FEL bucket, given that gets down to the pavement itself - living in Maine, if I leave any snow on the surface it will become ice very quickly, and then I may as well have just let the snow sit since that has some traction. The Edge Tamers only real usage is when you use a Front End Loader bucket for snow removal.
They are not for a front/rear tractor blade (plow) or a snow blower. Only for a FEL bucket.
Yes, about 1/4" to 1/2" snow remains when using Edge Tamers.
It depends on the amount of "tilt" on the bucket.
Normal usage is the flat bottom FEL bucket surface parallel with the ground.
The "ski" surfaces hold the front cutting edge of the FEL bucket just above the blacktop/dirt/gravel/turf.
Due to the size & shape of my driveway, the FEL bucket & Edge Tamers works really well.
The Edge Tamers also work really well when you are using the FEL to move dirt, gravel, and bark mulch
off a turf surface.
During warm weather, I have my tooth bar on the FEL bucket.

When winter arrives, take out two bolts and the tooth bar comes off in less than five minutes.
Slide the pair of Edge Tamers over the FEL bucket cutting edge and tighten the two bolts.

All that is needed for the conversion from dirt work to snow removal in less than ten minutes

Since the above photo was taken, I built a rear ballast barrel that mounts on the three point hitch,
and the tractor is quite a bit more maneuverable in tight spaces as compared to having the backhoe installed. Not an option if you actually need the backhoe for a project.

Hope you have a strong neck. Have looked at 3 point blowers. Price is good but my neck couldn’t handle the constant neck twisting.Hey everyone, first time poster here. BX23S currently with a 54" snow pusher and a box blade on the back. The snow pusher is a definite gamechanger from using the bucket. I'm currently getting quotes on a rear snowblower. I'm looking at something in the 54" range as well just to move banks etc back. Located in eastern Ontario so big storms are hit and miss. I have a walk behind 30" blower but recently diagnosed with some heart issues that don't allow me to use the walk behind now. View attachment 148972
I find it helpful to turn in the seat as much as possible when running implements out back. I run a lot of implements behind both tractors so looking behind me is part of the deal, summer, winter and everything in between.Hope you have a strong neck. Have looked at 3 point blowers. Price is good but my neck couldn’t handle the constant neck twisting.
