This jumped out of a tree, right past my ear. Happened too fast to even flinch. Smooth Green Snake, I think. View attachment 101898
Cool snake. Could be a rough or smooth green snake. Rough has slightly keeled scales.

We have a good amount of Rough Greens where I live (Deep East Texas), but I've caught both smooth and rough (as a kid) in Independence KS (South and East of you) along the Verdigris River. Great pic!

cool.

The coachwhips fall out of trees around here, they are like 5ft+ in length, enough to get you really excited and/or mild heart attack.

A couple years ago I had 2 drop from the tree, one landed on me then onto the floorboard of the tractor, it turned at looked at me for like ever(probably like 3 seconds, lol) before it slid off the floorboard onto the ground.

Seems my old buddy Bob showed up last night. I hadn't seen him since last fall.
Nothing on my cameras overnight, no skunk, no coons, no Opossum..
Only Bob. I guess everything else knew he was in the neighborhood.
Bob (or Bobbie) looks really healthy.

I dug a small wildlife pond in my sandy soil and then lined it with sodium bentonite as a proof of concept for a much larger pond dig that I am close to completing.

Although I have a trail cam pointed at this small pond and have gotten tons of video with wildlife enjoying it, at times I capture photos with my camera as I sit in my jeep.

These two young whitetail gave me a 20 minute show in the middle of day playing and romping in the water. They sure could use a good grooming! Their winter coats are rapidly leaving and in the meantime they sure look rough!

And a few trilliums peaking up thru some logs I need to get to work on. I’m blessed with thousands of trilliums around my land, which sometimes can be a bit of a nuisance as I try to miss them driving Kubbie around.

Trilliums were a favorite Wisconsin wildflower that my parents would mention when I was a small child (late 50's to mid 60's). Sigh , now they are a threatened species here. Thanks for sharing and bringing back great memories of driving up north and looking for them!

Not really a photoshoot, but.... east coast sunrise through the haze of smoke from Candian forest fires.

I was checking the wildlife pond trail cam , sitting in my Jeep with my head down looking at my iPad. Looked up and 40 foot away this Coopers Hawk had landed at the ponds edge and was using it as a bird bath.

I was cutting sweetgums this afternoon and a bird got up and flew in front of me, flashing her wings. It was a fairly large bird. I went over and there were 2 eggs, sitting right out in the open. I'm pretty sure it's a whippoorwill, we've been hearing them and Chuck-wills-widows a lot in the evening. I'm letting her keep that sweetgum for now.

What are these? I found them on a moist rotting stump. They look like small snails, but they don't move at all. Maybe some kind of fungus?
