It is getting the same with tractors, as has been the norm for cars/trucks. Accessibility doesn't seem to be the priority. A previous post mentioned Prius being difficult, which on the gen 3 at least, is quite easy with a $10 proprietary wrench. A F150 with 3.5 Ecoboost however, is the true nightmare. With their timing chain, phazer problems, oil changes are critical, and with these, not a 20 minute diy. Sign of the times I fear.
I don't own any car, truck or tractor that has a hard to reach, or hard to change oil filter. Even the new '24 F-450 oil filter is like the one on my '02 F-250 being easily accessible and mounted vertically so prefilling the filter isn't a challenge. The '02 has a Fumoto engine oil drain valve in the oil pan which makes it easy to change oil. The original owner installed it many years ago.
