Hello all! I've had my Kubota L2501 tractor for 5 years now with no problems. It's done everything I've needed it to do. I live in Arkansas and wanted to get my place cut before the rain comes this weekend. The ground dried out well after the last deluge and the grass, while about ankle high, is wispy and not thick at all. I have a landpride fdr1660 finish mower and I set it to its highest setting and got started. After 1 pass the tractor seemed to loose power. Even with the throttle wide open, the tractor won't maintain PTO rpms (540). It will barely maintain 540 on the driveway (concrete, no grass). Anybody have an idea of what's wrong??? All advice is appreciated!

Fuel flow problems?

May have clogged filter, biological growth or bad lift pump. Start at the injection pump to see if you have good flow there.

But unfortunately I can’t tell you what good flow looks like but search may be your friend to find out.

Check Air Filter, fuel filter / separator for water and contamination.

It sounds like a clogged fuel filter to me.

Check for good fuel flow from tank to inj pump. Is fuel tank venting IE try operating engine with fuel cap removed & shop towel covering fuel tank neck.

Easiest thing to check first is the air filter!

Fuel, air and combustion (with compression) should get a diesel running.

Thank you all for the replies! It was the water separator/fuel filter. The clear part was so dirty I couldn't see the fuel in it properly. Washed it off and wow! It was almost purple in there. Took it off, cleaned it all up with some kerosene and ordered a couple of new filters. I did put it all back on after cleaning/soaking, and clean fuel filled it back up. Started the tractor up, let it run for a little bit and proceeded to cut 9 acres without a hiccup!
