Maybe not just for the MX5400 but was is an affordable code reader to pull codes and read them. Will any OBD2 or CAN scanner work?

No, there is not a cheap computer to read it.
A kubota dealer with the Diagmaster and software is the best bet.
You should be able to read all codes on the display of the tractor.

Diagmaster can still be used until June 2025, when its support ends. We have graduated to KORB Ace for diagnostics.

Is this still only Kubota dealership assessable?
I'm imagining that it's probably an expensive upgrade for a tech or a dealership?

Like Diagmaster, anyone who demonstrates the need, buys the license, equipment, completes training and who can pass the certification can possess KORB Ace diagnostic equipment although it may be throttled back a bit.
