Left-handed

I was thinking about this the other day but tractors are made for right handers. The shift lever, the rear remote controls, the 3-point control are all on the right. We all get used to what we have but it sure would be weird to have to use my left hand for those things.

I grew up in a country where I learned to drive on the left side of the road with the steering wheel on the right, so it was odd for me initially to have to shift with my right hand when I moved to the US. When I visit family it takes all but a few minutes to switch back.

Even chainsaws can cause issues for some lefties.

While it's been years, recall a friend using a chainsaw with hands reversed on the saw.

He was a decent novice and very dominate lefty like me. Think he was running a Stihl 044 blocking firewood. Great saw in the era.

Looked friggin weird, and told him that ain't right. You're gonna eat that bar sometime if you get a kickback. He'd done it for decades.

I couldn't figure how he ran a saw before automatic oil pumps.

He couldn't fathom running it the "right" way......he passed years later at 80 without a chainsaw Knick on him. Worked for him.

Not only am I left handed I also have no feeling in my thumb and index finger on my on right hand so it makes it hard to run my chainsaws the “right” way.
Every once in a while I’ll try to run them the “right” way but after a couple of minutes I go back to holding the saw with my right hand and run the throttle with my left.

I got electronic calipers for left hand.

Extra large screen is a bonus for old lefties….

Seem pretty decent, and came with 3 batteries…. also precise enough for anything I need.

Okay - - going to resurrect my "Leftie" thread again.

Several years ago, as a "newcomer" to the family my SIL got me a VERY nice set of Knipex adjustable wrenches.

Never seen them before. Look very well made.

I use them occasionally, just so I can tell him I use them. Always seemed kind of Wonky to me.

Tried the little one again today. Couldn't remember if the fill plug on the mower gear box was 3/4 or 7/8".....not tight enough to round it off.....

Then it hit me......Those friggin' things are for Righties...... Don't work for Lefties worth a darn....

Good in Right hand......the Button that says "PUSH" is right there by my thumb.....

Not so good in the Left Hand…..

I looked up those wrenches on Amazon. They are too expensive for me. I would like to have a set of those though. They look like they would be useful for light to moderate duty.

They have very high ratings on the reviews. I might have to try a pair to see if I like them. I have a pair of Knipex ”lineman’s“ pliers and some of the wire cutters and they are excellent tools!

These may be the tool that resolves the problem with tightening the turnbuckle nuts on my tractor, that I can’t get the open end wrench to turn the nut well.

Seem well made, but I agree that limited to light-medium duty.

Kind of a fancy Crescent Wrench.

Thing that got me was they’re great if you’re right-handed……

I have a couple of them, a 7" and a 10". I like them for certain things because they have smooth jaws instead of grooved jaws, for gripping things you don't want to mar up. Excellent gripping power too.
I have several Knipex pliers and side cutters and they are excellent quality.

I understand perfectly. Been left handing it now for almost 41 years.

I have a pair myself, they don't see much action. In fact, they still look brand new.

Yeah, I likely could do the same. Just haven’t used them enough to get accustomed to them. Usually will grab something else.

@BBFarmer turns wrenches for a living.

He does a MUCH better job at organizing his pliers drawer…… mine’s in disarray….with a little bit of everything in there…..

I might be able to fit the metal-working clamps in the welder cabinet. Would help a lot….

Unless I am mistaken, it appears that you are missing at least 1 socket and one wrench. Those would not happen to be 10mm, would they? BTW, I like your organizational skills. Outstanding!

I found a 10mm socket in TSC parking lot while back.

I was shocked! Had to look twice at the size....

Not a matchy-matchy from Terry, MS.

Did replace one I was missing though....

Decided to clean out my pliers drawer after seeing RCWs . Found a bunch of slip pliers ( this is only about half of them ) that haven't been used in years. Amazing thing is they all were made in the US or Japan. Thinking about trying to make stick figures by welding them together .

Oh my - - glad my messy Pliers drawer inspired you to clean yours out.....

Just poking fun - - @BBFarmer said I had a "nice" collection.....translation is a kind/polite way to say there's a bunch of junk in there....

I looked back in that drawer earlier today to see how I can make it more organized.....

Check out my score from early last week. Out test driving and my eagle eyes spotted something.

I said dang thats a big ole socket! Turned around a scooped her on up. She was crusty at first. Put her on the wire wheel when i got back then sprayed her down with some oil.

Never owned anything proto....I know its good stuff though.
