I get called to look at this 5240 today for a problem with rock damage to the oil pan. It's a DT model with a tunnel for the propeller shaft, two sumps, two drain plugs. On the bottom of each sump is what appears to be a cast aluminum cover with a row of bolts securing each to the main body of the pan. One of them now has a hole in it. Looks like a simple fix, just get a new cover, swap it out and done. Kubota parts site shows the pan to be a 1G427-01610. That shows up as fitting a whole list of l series and some M series tractors. Parts search for that number and everything I've seen so far shows it to be a one piece unit with no such covers. Darn parts site just went down I guess, I can't get it to open up for any model right now to compare with anything else.

Must be a part common to many different models so someone out there may have one like it. Kind of hard to change the oil and not notice it sooner or later. Anyone have one like that? I thought it would be easy to find. Maybe not.

Both my M's are like that but I believe you have to drop the front prop shaft to get it off. Never put a hole in either of mine as they are pretty far up in the air. Would take a huge boulder or log to do that.

When you do get a price on the replacement part you may find it cheaper to have somebody heliarc the hole.

Guess I didn't crawl under far enough. Sure looked like two separate parts each bolted independently. Wonder why it doesn't show up in parts lists/ Site is still down on my end.

Hard to find a price without a part number.

I have an L2250, I happened to knock a hole into my oil pan this past spring. Cost for a new pan was going to be $482.00 Canadien. I brought it to my local weld/machine shop, he charged me $150.00 to weld the cast aluminum pan. Seems to hold oil just fine so far.

I just looked at the parts list, and was easy to get to with no delays or troubles. The part number you list should be the correct one. It is a one piece item. Has two drain plugs so all the oil can be drained from each side of the hollowed out area for the front drive shaft.

I see the site is working again tonight.
Checked with local dealer today and learned that many pans do have lower covers bolted, but they are not available separately. Options are find a used one, patch what we have, or a new pan, which may or may not have the removable sections. Guess I'll try the welding option first.
