Hey there. Long lurked here, never posted before. Appreciate your responses.

I have a l5030 that we've owned for 6 years. It's the workhorse of our 25-acre vegetable farm and sees 600 to 700 hours per year. 3700 hours on it.. It's never been down except once when a bit of fuel cap thread somehow ended up in the return line.
,
A few weeks ago, after the season ended thankfully, it suddenly started emitting a high-pitched squealing when the manual clutch is depressed. No noise when the tractor is in neutral or in gear. Also no issues with the glide shift. Seems like this indicates the throw out bearing on the manual clutch needs replaced, and this requires splitting the tractor.

However I've never had it into the shop at the local Kubota dealer before, and I've never been impressed with the level of knowledge of their service department. This repair is beyond my expertise and the capabilities of our shop, but it makes me very nervous to send it and possibly cause other issues in what has been such a sterling piece of equipment.

So I guess I have two questions:
1. Is there anything at all I might want to check before I have someone haul it off for major work?
And 2. I guess I'm just hoping for some reassurance that it would be in fact more risky to leave it as is, rely almost entirely on the glide shift, and use the squeaky manual clutch for only emergency type situations, than it is risky to send it into a service department I don't 100% trust.

Thanks

Being a GST, yea you could just avoid using the clutch pedal for the most part.
In the mean while start searching for a competent independent mechanic, it doesn't have to be a Kubota mechanic, any good mechanic should be able to do it for you.

I agree with North Idaho Wolfman. Check the bulletin board at the local feed store or ask some of the employees there you know. You may find a referral who will actually come to your location to separate and repair!

Yea, good advice. We need a *new* competent independent mechanic. Old guy was great--i sweat he can "lay hands" on an engine to get it working right-- but after he he took 11 months (!!!) to get one of our cultivating tractors back to us, the wife says never again.
