From what I've read, apparently this is not an unusual problem. Does anyone know how to repair/replace the sight glass, or how to deal with this problem? Thanks in advance!

Not sure about how your site glass "sits" against the gasket. Have you looked at the gasket that seals the two pieces and look for places that are not making good contact? I do know from the old ford N series days that over tightening the bowl was a major no-no. Does the bowl "spin" or must it sit a certain way? On the old N's you could work that glass bowl slightly as you tightened it and stop the leaking fuel.

Are you talking the sight glass in the hydraulic fluid that's located in the rear end?
It's just held in by a lip and some silicone.
85Hokie, I think your talking about the old fuel bowls, completely different monster than the sight glass for the transmission.

If it's leaking, It's best just to replace it with a new one.

Just drain the fluid down below the glass, plus a little more, then pull it out, it's like a plug, clean the hole with some brake parts cleaner, then install a new glass and rubber with a little automotive silicone around the edge, Use one of the Ultra silicone like a ultra black or ultra blue.
