Hello All-
Here is the L35 at about 99.9% completed. This installment is the Completion and rehabilitation of the FE Loader and Bucket Nightmare.
We pick up from January when I had blasted the loader arms for paint and repaired bosses and powdercoated the links for the bucket.
After receiving the new bushings and machining from Dan, it was time to:
1) Repair the bottom of the Left Loader Arm and Repair and make parts for the Self-Leveler.
2) Rebuild the Bucket Hydraulic Cylinders and Powdercoating of the bucket links and other misc parts.
3) Remove the remnants of the pins from the 8 bosses in the bucket.
4) Clean and paint the bucket and install with self-leveler links.
Here are some pics to get you started:
MAKING A NEW CAP FOR THE LEFT LOADER ARM
REMOVING RUST FROM TORQUE TUBE USING HOMEMADE TOOL CHUCKED IN A DRILL
PAINTED LOADER ARMS WITH NEW BUSHINGS INSTALLED
NEW HOMEMADE LINKAGES FOR THE SELF-LEVELER (Parts B, C and D)
REBUILT BUCKET LINKS WITH NEW BUSHINGS
REMOVING PIN REMNANTS:
I knew that the plasma cutter alone wouldn't work well because the plasma hits the pin and bounces back burning the torch (and almost my hands).
So I used a magnetic drill and punched holes in the pin remnants to allow the plasma to go through and thus use the cutter as a knife.
That way, the plasma jet sliced through the metal from side to side of the newly drilled hole.
The intense heat cut the pin remnant and heated the pin such that some good whacks with a BFH removed the remnants.

L35 TLB Restoration - Greasing pins is good - (UPDATE Jan 8)
The last abused section of my TLB restoration is the front loader. Worn pins, worn bushings and totally rusted pins are my nemesis. There's no getting this bucket off any other way than cutting pins - and that I did. And no way to do it easily. Several hours of sawing, blade changing, and strong...

Taking out a little wear
Nick Sacco had some backhoe parts that were just a tad worn and I volunteered to do a little machine work for him. Here are the new bushings he needed to replace the old worn ones that are NLA and the two very badly worn bucket links that needed to be rebored and bushed. Just one more link to...
