Ok been researching this a minute and haven't really came up with anything concrete. I have a L295DT and up until a couple months ago it has served me well. Upon inspection has SEVERE blow by and antifreeze residue in combusion chambers. Would like to just do a swap so I can have matching hours on all the engine accessories i.e. injectors/pump. From what I can gather a D1402 seems to be the best bet but having a time trying to find one that someone thinks is worth its weight in gold. Are there any other options out there? Would like to to stay as close to the 30HP range. Thanks for the input

You might run into several issues with that swap.

The original engine is a D1301A
It's a indirect injection engine that has the ability to have the front axle bolt to the front of the engine.

There is 2 D1402 engines:

The tractors (L2550, L2650) that used that size of engine used the D1402DI-A engine, direct injection.
It will have a larger front gear case cover and water pump, and might not allow you to bolt the front axle support to the front of the engine.
also because it's an direct injection engine, you will need to make sure you get the Intake manifold as the one off the D1301A will not fit it.
Also if it's a DT (4wd) model the oil pan might not fit it.

The industrial / equipment version was the D1402IDI-A, Indirect Injection engine.
It will be a close match, just make sure the oil pan, front cover and flywheel are the same for an easier install.

Thanks for the break down that does help clarify. Now the issue is I am having a hard time finding a D1402. Sure I can find them reman for 3K dollars and up but if I was going to do that I might as well spend that and completely go through the D1301. Do you have any sources beyond the Tennessee guys (they don't have them) that I could try? Thank you

That is going to be a tough motor to find!
One of its primary uses was Bobcat and other model skid steers tractors, they usually run them right into the ground. ;)

See post #5. Was a while back, but he buys and sells engines shipped in from the Far East. Send him a private message, by clicking on his name.
