That is interesting but confusing to me. On my L185 the key-switch has four positions Off, Run, headlights low, headlights high. There is a separate switch that that operates the glow plugs when turned left and the starter/glow plugs when turned to the right.

The oil pressure light and charge light are on when the key is turned to the on position so the lights have no indication on the glow plugs, but do indicate that power is ready to be applied to the glow plugs. Once power is applied to the glow plugs then the glow plug indicator will glow (in dim light)

Please explain how your key switch operates and how it applies power to the glow plugs.
On my tractor the key switch operates as such.

1. Off position is straight up (no dash lights, no activation of anything).

2. First position to the right (clockwise): The dash lights (Oil and Charge) light up and power is available to every circuit connected to that key position.

3. Second position to the right: Is the 'start' position and naturally it acts as a spring loaded momentary switch, returning to the run position once released.

4. ***The one we are interested in***. This position (key moved and held to the left) is also spring loaded and operates as a momentary switch. This is the only other position at which the Oil and Charge lights illuminate. They only light up as long as you are holding pressure against the key switch, activating the Glow Plugs.

It is not my assertion that they are meant to be dedicated 'Glow Plug Lights' (labeled as such, as they are not). Only that they DO come on when activating the glow plugs.

It seems pointless for them to operate in that position only to show that they 'work' when that feature already exists in the 'run position of the switch. But perhaps its simply a function of the wiring.

The glow plug 'indicator' is what I watch, since that is what it is intended for.

Don't know if that any of that information helps or answers your question.
