L2350 DT — strange transmission issue

Sounds like the pressure plate height to me. IF you have the old one, measure it and compare to the new one.

Lay it on a flat surface (fingers down), place a flat object across the pressure plate surface and measure.

See if there is a disparity in the two heights (old unit vs. new). Your PTO should engage when the clutch is let out approximately half way.

Something is wrong with the clutch pack or the install.
The fact that you had to alter anything to make the drive clutch work throws up huge red flags.

Good news, you already know how to split it.

yep. Well live and learn. I really really did not want to get into the transmission so I’m not crying over it. I’ll update the progress going forward probably on another thread. At the end of all this I will probably do a master thread with all the other threads linked. This has been quite a a journey and I can’t thank you guys enough for shining the light for me!

These 2 areas are filled up with gasket material that the prior owner got everywhere. I am assuming that they should be completely open allowing hydraulic fluid to oil the back side of all the shifting rods?

Yea probably best to clean that all out.
I would also pull the springs and clean them too.
A gasket would be better, but if you use RTV just go sparingly and you'll be fine.
