that's true but there's sometimes more to it
a number of years ago I had to put an engine in a smaller L series-I do not remember exactly which model, as it was probably 20 years ago. KTC couldn't find an engine (backordered) and the rep said just order it from KEA (Kubota engine America). So we did and it was indeed less expensive. Problem is, the generator engine's governor was different (which I did not know, until I installed the engine and it ran at 1800 RPM all the time). So then I had to pull the front of the engine off, swap out some parts, and put it back together and hope it didn't leak (which it didn't). So that savings was ate up by labor costs.
just something to be aware of when ordering engines.
and nowadays you have the rules too. They won't ship an engine until you document the destruction of the old one, and they will NOT ship any engine other than what you order (has to be exact same model or a newer version that is approved). I don't know how that equates as far as ordering through KEA as I'm thankfully out of the kubota business, but I felt it worth mentioning-may be a subject for NIW or Dave_eng to expand on if they feel the need.
