Kubota BX2230 engine sound, is it normal?

Update. So, I haven’t identified what the tapping/slapping sound is quite yet, but I do know that if I hold that shaking air filter pretty tight, it goes away.

when I get a moment I will take off the engine shroud cover thing and see what it might be slapping around. It certainly seems like metal on metal, but I feel pretty confident it’s not coming from inside the engine which at this point feels like a huge relief.

Thant's good to hear. The air filter on the 2230s is a bad design, seems prone to breakage from engine vibrations.
