Not sure how the legal situation in the US is. In Europe consumers get a minimum of 2 years. But manufacturers only have to provide 1 year warranty. So if your device needs repairs between 1 and 2 years the dealer has to pay for the repair. So they will try to fob you off. Typically they will not be successful with that due to strong consumer legislation.
I hope you get the problem sorted, my experience is to try to work with the dealer but to be firm and stick to technical facts and keeping emotions out of it is the best approach.
