I've read the complaints about the BX's, but does anybody with a B2620 find the hydro whines quite a bit in high range?
I didn't notice it to be bad before on mine but every since I did my 50 hour service it seems to be louder. Or could it be just that the weather is getting warmer now? It's gone from minus 20*C to plus 5 here now at times.
I have about 16 hours since the service and used Kubota Premium UDT (We don't have Super UDT in Canada.)

The B7500 I had whined fairly loud at certain rev's and speeds. The L3200 I now have is loudest in high. I did a hydro fluid change much earlier than the schedule required because I thought it would be better for the longevity of the tractor's hydraulic system. I don't know what fluid the dealer filled it with originally. When I serviced it I used Super UDT2 and it makes less noise since then.

I probably noticed more because I went to snowblow the neighbours driveway late the other night after work...so I was the only noise around.

You answered your own question. All Kubotas come factory filled with SUDT or SUDT2. Even though (according to dealers) the UDT is just as good and works the same as SUDT, you can now see the difference for yourself.

If the dealer won't help you out and get the SUDT or SUDT2 fluid for you find yourself a local Amsoil dealer and try the Universal Synthetic tractor trans / hyd fluid. Not trying to sell anything, just offering another premium option that's out there.

I think you will find that nothing works better to reduce hydro whine than the SUDT2. Many people have stated that the machines come with SUDT, and when doing the 50hr switching to SUDT2 made it quieter. None of the aftermarket premiums (amsoil, royal purple, etc...) run as quiet as SUDT2. Kubota has a lot of R&D into SUDT2 and it's perfectly matched for their hydros.

There are several posts on various forums and no matter the fluid tried, SUDT2 was the quietest.

My B2920 has a lot more whine in high range than in low range.

Apparently Kubota USA owns the copyright on the SUDT name so it has to be called something else in Canada. Kubota Canada only has the one fluid available, made by Petro Canada.

Petro Canada's tractor transmission/hydraulic fluids are called Duratran. Looking at the tech sheets for Duratran, Duratran Synthetic is listed as meeting the requirements of SUDT, my guess is Premium UDT is Duratran Synthetic.

Yes I found that in my research PrairieSoul. I wanted to make sure the Premium UDT was the good oil they have here in Canada. I know it pours a lot better, seems thinner than what came out of the tractor. Maybe that's why it is louder?

If you look at the specs of SUDT2 versus SUDT, SUDT2 is thinner.

SUDT Kinematic Viscosity @ 40° C, cSt 45.0 Viscosity @ 100° C, cSt 9.00

SUDT2 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40° C, cSt 37 Viscosity @ 100° C, cSt 8.1

For comparison Duratran Synthetic is 48.8/ 10, Amzoil is 53.7/9.8.

What is interesting is the viscosity of Duratran XL, a semi-synthetic is
8.3/ 39.2. Perhaps that is what is used for Premium UDT. Kubota apparently does call SUDT2 a semi-synthetic.

I did my 50hr on my L3200 and changed the factory UDT out with SUDT2 and it made a big change. Faster hydro in cold weather, and much quieter for sure. I thought it came with sudt2 but I asked my dealer and they said it came with udt. Worth the money.

Man you guys must really be working these hard, I find the engine noise much more than the hydro whine on my L3200.

Same with my Hustler lawn mower, and it has two HST's, the engine makes much more noise.
