The bucks decided to make a scrape right beside 1 of my cameras.

Good luck hunting Ken. You have some nice deer on your property. It's going to be a chilly weekend for sure. The rut isn't over yet, so movement of the bucks on their own should be good enough for a successful hunt. Keep the heater cranked for a long sit!
Thank you! And same to you.

Shot down to my land today to check snow depth and a few trail cams.
Our gun season in Wi starts Saturday morning.

My blind is in the back round. The trail that these deer use angles across the blind about 25 yards in front and then runs along side as shown. Of course all of this action changes opening morning! :). Ignore the time stamps (I really need to set the date and time on this cam), for reference the snow came this Tuesday the 15th.

Awesome spot and a very nice buck. Good luck. What are you using this season? Do you have straight wall cartridge limitations like Illinois (I'm here for work this week).

I use a Winchester 670 chambered in 30-06, (long story on this rifle). Thankfully we do not have a straight wall limitation or a minimum point restriction. With the purchase of a buck tag I automatically receive two extra doe authorizations .

This was my first buck out of my blind in the same spot Nov of 2019. I look upset in the photo but it was cold with a bone chilling wind! Still waiting on the shoulder mount, another long story! lol, but all good.

I should post the 8 pt. deer I didn't kill... I'm not a trophy hunter, I normally like to cull the herd. Male spike deer, but this 6 pointer was too good to pass up. Only 150 pounds (-ish) The gun is an electric black powder, run off a 9 volt battery. I love the gun, the safety is super quite and the trigger is just connecting two wire. Electra, I love this thing... I need to remember to turn it on walking out the door!!!

Great buck, and the .30-06 Sprg. is a wonderful cartridge. You do look a little irritated in that photo.

Our rifle season opens tomorrow so I sat in my stand this afternoon. Eleven deer seen with one non-shooter 8 point probably 14" spread with 4-5" G2's.

Looking over the game camera photos... Put one just in the grass.

This is the same size as the one I killed, but a nicer rack (not like the monster racks you guys are posting)! All my apples have dropped to the ground and the cleanup crew have come and gone.

Wait to see what next year brings...

When it comes to hunting, the trophy is in the eyes of the beholder. The effort, the satisfaction, the meat all plays a role in a true trophy! Enjoy your harvest and keep it fun.

Today, I had the opportunity to harvest a nice 10 pointer. The only shots I had, and there were two of them were hind quarter shots because of the trees in the way. I allowed him to keep going. I have more respect for the trophy than just the horns. We have 8 more days of gun season. I'm glad he is still on the ground and running, only because he deserves more than a shot in the arse!
His nose was down, and he was on a mission...... good for him.

I agree, each hunter decides on his trophy. I like this buck, & plan to do all I can to see that he survives the season. He was a forky last year, has a double throat patch & interesting coloration. I have negotiated with my neighbors. If they want me to catch their coyotes, they need to help keep this buck safe. All agreed.
However, I really like venison chili. I will have to take a deer, just not this 1.

Pulled a freezer doe out (black powder season) today, with a little help from my friend.

Good job! Love my venison, and it looks like she is a nice adult doe.
We live on the red meat here and enjoy every meal.

Thanks. We’ve just over run with does the last few years and really need to take more.
