A friend of mine owns an L3700SU and cracked the FWD shift lever shaft housing. All the fluid drained out. I was able to MacGuyver seal the crack using JBWeld, enough to get the loader to move 2 inches with about 1 gallon of fluid added. I do not want to dump the entire +6.2gal load again if the JBweld bandaid fails. Questions:
1. We need to move it out of the field to where we can work on the damaged housing. What is the Minimum fluid needed to engage the HST?
2. Is Mobil Delvac good enough to use in this L3700, or should he be using SDT2? It only has 700hrs on it. Bought it new, but the dealer has since shut down the business. So SDT2 is only online accessable.

Any universal tractor transmission fluid will get you out of the field. Surely you have a Walmart or Sams club....

I've lost 3 gallons of the 6.2 gallons that should be there... you have the same size tractor. I was fine to drive back to the house for repairs. Basic UTD oil would be fine, just make sure it is for Transmissions!!!

I didn't run the throttle high, low and slow.

Do not underfill it to move, if you cavitate the HST you can do some serious damage.
Cheap fluid is fine to get it out of the field, but don't run it for any length of time.
SUDT2 is the prefered fluid, but you can use UST, it just will not perform as well.
