Hi everyone.
Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm not having any luck searching for it. Was is the thought on max time to wait for the 400 hr Kubota service? Or is it OK just to wait for 400 hours to occur?
I have a 2017 B2650HST that has a little less than 300 hours. I use it mostly to run a 5ft shredder and 60" MM Mower. I have a 3 point snowblower which I usually only need once or twice a year. It has always been stored inside. I change oil, oil filter, and fuel filter every spring. I had the 50 hr maintenance done at the dealer after 1 year (that was early hours wise I'm sure) and I had dealer change HST filter a couple years ago I believe at the hours in the book.
So I'm wondering should I bite the bullet and get the 400 hours done now due to age (hopefully I haven't already waited to long) or am I good to at least go to next spring (if not longer). I'll continue to change oil and filter myself each year either way.
Thanks a lot of any advice!

Great question and something that many of us think about! From the sounds of things you're doing a great job with oil, oil filter and fuel filter maintenance. The dealer changed out the HST filter at an appropriate time which you can do yourself very easily too. Have you done anything with the coolant i.e. replaced it at any point? Keep up on greasing and you'll be well ahead of the pack.

Given all that you've done, I wouldn't worry too much about the 400 hour service. If you're ok with the cost of the 400 hour service then for peace of mind if nothing else, get it done sooner rather than later. If not, it's highly unlikely that you're going to have any problems show up because you put off the service. Just my opinion but keep up the good work. (y)

Thanks! I grease the MMM and tractor/loader in the spring before I put the MMM back on. I just remembered I sent it in one other spring to have a engine block heater installed along with oil and filter service. I would assume they would of had to drain and replace the antifreeze to accomplish that?

I changed the block heater on the BX25D that I had due to my leaving it plugged in and on for most of the first winter, but I don't remember draining the coolant in order to do it. @whitetiger should be able to help with that question.

Oh, I could just misunderstand where a block heater goes into the engine. I suppose it makes sense it wouldn't be sitting in or making concact with the antifreeze.

Your first thought was right. The block heater element is in the water jacket and exposed to coolant. I just don't remember losing much in the way of coolant when I swapped out block heaters. Perhaps I drained the coolant, I just don't remember.

Ever wonder why engines have water pumps but coolant hoses? 😂

Yes, they would have had to drain the coolant to install the heater, but they may have caught it and poured it back in.
If you are not sure, you probably should change/flush the system. Refill with fresh coolant.
