I did not. About the only thing I get from hotmail is the fact that there are apparently lots of ladies in my neighborhood that need....ummmm...shall we say servicing. So, all that goes into my spam box.

It’s fairly common to get security mail (initiated by hackers) if you have secondary authentication turned on. Just delete the code request with the code. Turn on the security options if you haven’t.

I used Hotmail until Microsoft bought it out and allowed it to be flooded with spam. It was useful once upon a time.

Says I am locked out, and even though I filled the form they sent they say theres not enough information, so I dont bloody know , just that I am locked out. I wonder if I could go and delete it and sign up for a new account ?

We receive phishing attacks like that. They appear to be from a legitimate site, but they are actually hackers getting you to enter in your information and steal your account.

I don't use hotmail, but Bmyers is offering indispensable advice. Do not fill out any forms that are sent to you and do not provide any information in response to their request. They are most likely scammers trying to get some information from you that they can either sell or use to access other accounts you may have. If you are having trouble with hotmail then you should initiate contact with them and ask them to help you straighten it out.

I'd log in and change your password and any other account that uses the same password. You shouldn't be able to get email if you are "locked out".

You may have to log in via a browser to change your password.

Yep… I like to think I’m wise to hackers, etc…. but the time I paid for a subscription to MS365…. within the hour I’d rec’d an email requesting I sign back “in” and update my contact info…
And …stoopidly… I DID…without proof-reading the sender’s email address. (something like “microsaft365.com” …notice the slight mis-spelling of microsoft…

Anyway… I gave them CC info a second time again…. and only LATER I realized that I’d done something stupid. I contacted the CC company and they had already detected fraud and had sent me a text-msg via cell ph asking verification. Thx to the CC company (Discover) for that.

Criminals … oldest “game” in humanity. I still wonder how they detected a new subscription to an APP …. makes me think that MS maybe has an “inside man”.

The Other thing about Hotmail… is it sometimes acts goofy in ways that, years ago, it previously did not. “outlook” is the new host apparently and I don’t like it. I use another email-service for my serious and financial business dealings.

Be careful out there. The Consumer Protection Agency has been recently fired by Felon Musk.

You've been scammed.
Log into Hotmail directly, not using the link sent to you.
Change the Password.

I will try that tomorrow,, thanks
It might not be a scam. (actually it is a scam, but its a scam directly from Microsoft)

They nearly locked me out of my Hotmail account about a month ago, claiming that "I did not have enough storage".

I got a new laptop a while back, and in the process of setting it up, I "unknowingly" signed up for some sort of "cloud backup" in Outlook.

Then when I transferred all my files to the new machine, it F'ing filled my "Free 5 Gigs" of storage, so they started sending me emails warning that I am "out of storage", threatening to lock me out. Of course they offered to "rent me" another 100Gb of storage to "Help me out".....for something like 30 bucks a year......What a crock of sh!t.

It's total BS that they can sneak that in, but they do.

Before they locked me out, I was able to go in and delete all those files to free up my "storage problem"

However, I also deleted some stuff that I wanted to save.

I now have a Gmail account, and am slowly transitioning.

BTW, HEY BILL GATES AND MICROSOFT. 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

I obviously didn't post that phone number, but that is a scam number. It's listed to recover accounts from other providers like Google. In any case, not real for hotmail. I reported it.

Try this which is a real Microsoft site which shows what to do step by step.
