Blue collar - check, and adding to that raising two daughters and my bird brain that I can do it by myself and handle it. A desk job for the last 10 years did nothing to help the damage I did years ago.

Lumbar epidural steroid injections. Hopefully it helps as I would really like to defer the surgery thing if possible. I know eventually I am going to have to go that route but hope to avoid it for a few more years.

Although results can be variable and many folks might still require surgery at some point, some patients respond so well to LESI'S that they can delay surgery indefinitely with occasional injections. Every case is different and much depends on your individual circumstances. Wishing you success with the injections. In can take several weeks for the full effect to be seen after injection so be patient. Good luck.

Not all chiropractors do x-rays in house. With the cost of the machine, expense of keeping it certified, and purchasing liability insurance, many today ask you to have them done at a local hospital or other facility that does them as a routine service for many doctors. I can remember back in the 1970s when every chiropractor had an x-ray machine in their office. Those machines are dinosaurs today and no longer being used.
As long as they do X-rays before developing a treatment program is what matters. I wouldn’t let a chiropractor touch me if they started in with adjustments before diagnosis. And I’ve heard of some who do that.

Farmer with a bad back? Time will take its toll. Just started chiropractor adjustments for the first time. Wasn’t injured from doing the many lifts but from coughing from a silly summer cold. Embarrassing. Sure has slowed me down but getting better… slowly.

While the Chiropractor is first focused on pain relief has also tested my feet. Many problems caused by improper foot support effecting knees, hips, back, neck. Etc. One more thing to learn about as we get older.

Have always had 'lower back pain' for 60 years. In late 70's got a new chiropractor, 1st thing he did was xrays and a minor tweak. went back 2 days later, sitting in exam room waiting for him, looked at charts and xray on the lighttable, compared and saw damage to lower back, doc comes in and I said 'gee, that guy has to be in pain, those don't look good'. he said 'you tell me it YOUR xray ! L3-L4-L5 have maybe 5-10% 'discs' left. He'd tweak me every 2-3 months, depending on whatever 'silly' thing I'd do.
About a year before the Chinese Virus came, I got into the habit of a simple, easy exercise I do when I go to bed and have NOT been back since.
I lay face down, arms crossed, head on arms( gotta breath...) ,I then curve my back up and tighen the lower back muscles, hod for 15-30 seconds, relax. Do this 4-5 times. Once you figure out how to do it ,it's easy and pain free.
I think it helps 'build up/tone' the muscles around the spine. All I KNOW is that for 6 years I haven't forked out $40 per visit,2-3 times a month ,I'm NOT in pain and can do 90% of what I could 10 years ago.

May not work for all, but maybe worth a try.
